8 core CPU for GW2?

Gw2 is not programmed to utilize all cores, it uses 2 cores at best. Old school programming. To answer your question, it doesn’t matter. The only thing you can do is to get a high single core performance processor or overclocking.

As previously stated, gw2 doesn’t make good use of multi-cores. I am running a 5930k (6 cores, 12 threads). If I look at my utilization by thread, 2 threads are maxed out while all the others are between 0-30%. The only thing I have been able to find to do to improve performance is overclock ( I have it up to 4.6 stable right now). My GPU doesn’t limit either btw (running an overclocked 980 ti).
The game engine, unlike Excel, Handbrake, Winzip, Cinebench, etc doesn’t divide it’s workload across all logical cores. It basically uses just two but has enough utility threads also running to occasionally need more than two physical core’s worth of processor power. Toss in the OS and what ever else you have actively running, the question is how busy is your CPU overall? If you are close to 100%, not in the game but the overall system, then it might help a tad. But other than that no.
Also it’s common that CPUs with more physical cores have a lower clock speed so you actually may end up with less performance with a game engine like this.
RIP City of Heroes
you’re confusing CPU load usage with cpu performance
as long that number never hits 100% yoou’re good to go because the moment it hits 90+% your system is gonna start throttling the same goes for GPUs and RAM
and even if the game dint use all cores that means youo have idle cores you can use for other processes / multitask
Well I just want to get those 60fps at all times …
I did try to overclock my i7 4790k to 4,9GHz, but that was under 1,5V voltage and not raly safe for daily use. It did improve FPS a bit, but still not 60fps at WvW battles.
I just wish that GW2 could use all my PC power before it starts delivering lower fps.

My understanding is that Anet updated the old GW1 engine for GW2, hence it’s low efficiency on modern multi core processors. Unfortunately it’s unlikely Anet will upgrade the engine… too much work for too little return.
How much RAM do you have? also SSD or HDD ?
welp i guess gw2’s engine just cant push too far anyway
