So I’m currently working on a story, and decided that it would be fun to integrate the main character into the Guild Wars universe.

The problem is, I’m having a hard time choong the optimal profession for him. He’s a detective – a rather lazy one, in fact – of this law keeping force. Being lazy, he doesn’t resort to combat, but since he’s part of this integral military law keeping group, combat is inevitable. So he fights by choosing the best way to bring down an opponent as quick as he can, being the lazy kitten he is, he doesn’t want to waste energy on a fight. (Given that he doesn’t want to waste energy at all) He can be a combat pragmatist.

I’ve tried Warrior, but that profession seems to be about brute force. Dunno.

Also, the character is not fond of magic.

No Warriors, magic users or direct combat dealers…but primarily military -Turret Engineer.

I already sort of have an Engineer character planned, but I’ll definitely take it into consideration.

Any more? I could kind of see that a character not fond of magic REALLY narrow professions down, so I’d have to make workarounds.

I think Thief fits best. Knows the weak spots of all his enemies, so even if he does have to fight, he can easily take them down.

Ranger would also fit here.
With a plethora of pets at your disposal, you’d basically have a weapon for every situation, ready to fight on your behalf.
You’d also have a bloodhound (of sorts) if you went with a Krytan Drakehound as your main pet.

Edited because apparently you can’t get ‘ar – sen – al’ past the sensor without resorting to this /sigh
