A Thief weapon that should be added
I wouldn’t like to see any more 2 handed weapons for the Thief, since the dual skill is kind of his thing, and Short Bow is already kind of boring because of that.
While i don’t know about the use of this weapon in reality (2 hands required?), it could fit as a Off-Hand only weapon, as the sword is a main hand only weapon, allowing combinations for sword, dagger and pistol (2 off-hand abilities + 3 dual abilities), which would be way more interesting.
Could always make the chain and blunt be the mainhand and dagger offhand, and animations still show as them being all connected. Either way, you can’t compare it to the shortbow as it is a completely different weapon and does not mean it will be boring.
The problem with dagger offhand, as you say dual skill, is 2 of the dagger offhand abilities are very short range and wouldn’t really connect with the whole having a chain concept.
This would really add a new element to tear people from heartseeker only (as many complain about it) there really are no other dual abilities that fit into the class design, and pistol whip is extremely situational and most of the time requires quickness.
I can see the dagger chain thing being a utility weapon to give a mid ranged weapon to the Theif but you got to think in a bigger scence of weapons that appeal to multiple classes. Not just a single thief weapon.
Example I think a Whip would work well for Theif, elementalist, ranger classes. They have the nightmare whips from the sylvari enemies it would be pretty easy to impliment.
Also dissapointed Theives can’t dual weild swords. A lot of classes are strange like that, they can have dagger in off hand but not in main hand. I understand that not every class can do everything but if you can wield a dagger in the left hand you should know how to use it in the primary hand. I know its just a game.
I compared it to the Shortbow in terms of one weapon, 5 skills, while the Thief, unlike other professions, has the dual ability, which should be used since it is such a cool idea.
Then i would implement a off-hand only weapon, basically as counter part to the sword, which is main hand only.
A dual skill for Dagger could be the short range scorpion wire + a dagger attack for example, while also opening other interesting possibilities for Sword and Pistol, while also still giving room for 2 offhand abilities.
I can see where you are coming from. I think dagger would make more sense as the main hand and the chain+blunt be offhand only. The problem is, a sword wouldn’t make much sense as a main hand, but I guess it is just a game.
No matter what weapon you use as main hand, except pistol, also doesn’t really use the point of the chain weapon as the basic attack and #2 attack will all be very close range, the chain weapon is supposed to incorporate an entire attack set that has a range less then a shortbow but more then dagger or sword.
