Guild Wars 2

I was selected for the last beta stress test before the release of the game, i made a character in Ruins of Surmia if i recall correctly, i made a character, but did not purchase the game when it was officially released so i lost my account.

I purchased the game 3 days ago and it asked me if i wanted to link my account to my previous account, i answered yes and selected Baruch bay as my homeworld (because i have a friend who plays there), The problem is when i made a character, i found out my name is already in use.

i was told that all the characters you made in the stress test were going to be deleted at the end of it, so i dont know if my name is in use by someone else, or my character is still in Ruins of Surmia.

is there a way to know if its still there? i dont want to waste my transfer and have to wait a week to return to my actual homeworld.

PD: the name of my character was Asyaru.

my friend has the same problem and ours are not very common names, i never had this problem before and i have played alot of non-duplicate-name-requiering games online games, always with the same name

Nonetheless applekwisp is correct. They deleted all the beta characters and there was a mad dash for names at launch. Either someone took it by coincidence or else saw you playing it in beta and took it on purpose. I was terribly paranoid and never used my full intended name in beta — always Donari Smiling or Donari Allsmiles or the like.

You could add a last name or a title if you still want to use it.
