My questions are probably simple. But with crafting. Do you need better gathering tools to gather better mats? An for salvage. Do you need better kits to salvage better gear? Cause I am totally lost here lol.

For gathering tools yes you do need better one as you go up. As long as you by the one that meets your character lvl you’ll be fine.

As for salvage kit the better the kit the better change to get a higher tier of material and a higher chance to get the rune/sigil. For anything green or under basic is fine. For rares you’d want master and exotic if you want a 100% chance for the rune/sigil you’d use a BL kit.

Getting a higher tier material when salvaging isn’t necessarily a good thing. Getting silk is much better than getting gossamer. Getting linen is even better. Same for leather.
