A couple questions. Please answer!
Q1: Which profession is the most fun and enjoyable to play?
Personal preference.
Q2: Which profession is most wanted by other players?
Guardian/Mesmer.
Q3: Which race has the most fun and enjoyable gameplay/story?
Personal preference.
Q4: Paying attention to Lore, which professions fit with which races?
You can really have any race/class. It really does not matter.
Q5: Which race has the best racial skills?
All racial skills are rubbish, on purpose.
Q6: Which profession is best at PvP?
All have a role, except Elementalist is looking weak atm.
Q7: Which profession is best at PvE?
Warrior.
Q8: Which profession is best at WvW?
Guardian.
Q9: Which profession do you recommend?
Guardian.
Q10: Which race do you recommend?
Asura, as small as you can height wise. Being tiny, really does give you a advantage in any form of PVP.
Q1: Which profession is the most fun and enjoyable to play?
It depends on what you enjoy. Broadly speaking warrior and guardian are the easiest to learn, followed closely by ranger and then elementalist is the most complicated. The others are somewhere in the middle.
I recommend experimenting with them all to see which you prefer.
Q2: Which profession is most wanted by other players?
That depends on what you’re doing. It’s different for PvP, general PvE, dungeons, different activities in WvW. And it changes every so often as the meta-game shifts.
Q3: Which race has the most fun and enjoyable gameplay/story?
Again it’s a matter of opinion. A lot of people say the sylvari storyline links into the overall story best. Broadly speaking the asuran storyline will be lots of magitech, competing labs and associated backstabbing and trickery and probably more comedy elements than the others. Sylvari is more mysterious dreams and portents and traditional heroic quests. Human is politics and intrigue, with battles. Norn is more of a personal storyline – stuff that only affects you and your characters friends but with ties to the main storyline. The charr story is more military themed – you and your warband being sent on missions to serve your legion.
Q4: Paying attention to Lore, which professions fit with which races?
Any of them can fit with any, but the stereotypical ones would be:
Asura – elementalist, mesmer and necromancer
Sylvari – ranger, elementalist, maybe guardian
Human – thief, warrior, engineer or any really
Norn – warrior, ranger, guardian
Charr – warrior, guardian, engineer
Q5: Which race has the best racial skills?
Chances are by the time you get to level 80 you won’t be using any of your racial skills. Norn probably have the most interesting ones (especially the elites) but none of them are particularly powerful.
Q6: Which profession is best at PvP? & Q7: Which profession is best at PvE? & Q8: Which profession is best at WvW?
It changes all the time as the meta-game shifts. Either because Anet adjusted the balance in an update or because someone discovered a new build or a counter to a popular one.
Q9: Which profession do you recommend? & Q10: Which race do you recommend?
I recommend you try them all and pick the ones you like best.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Q4: Paying attention to Lore, which professions fit with which races?
Any of them can fit with any, but the stereotypical ones would be:
Asura – elementalist, mesmer and necromancer
Sylvari – ranger, elementalist, maybe guardian
Human – thief, warrior, engineer or any really
Norn – warrior, ranger, guardian
Charr – warrior, guardian, engineer
I’d add Ranger to the charr, since they raise devourers to be used as pets and the bigger ones as siege engines (Rox is one fine example) and Thief since Charr can be part of the Ash legion that relies on subterfuge, assasination and cover ops.
Also, one of the main characters in one of the novels is a sylvari necromancer… and her personality was the complete opposite of what you’d expect on one. It was a bit disconcerting to other characters (and something that puzzled her as to why) to see this sweet smiling sylvari asking them if they were ok with her using their corpses after they died…
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
I don’t get why people ask these types of questions. There is so much info on the web about this game now. I don’t mean to come off harsh but any mmo that i’ve ever played i did my own research into everything about that game. Never ask about builds or anything. To me thats what makes playing mmo’s fun Seeing what you can come up with on your own. and with this game you really are not stuck with your build. You can change it anytime.
