A few questions from a returning player
2: Downed state is still in, and will be untill the servers shutdown. Just my 2 cents.
3: Culling is being fixed, stealth consumable removed from wvw, and if you can´t see shadow refugees you´re just blind…that should cover all invisbility options for large amounts of people?
Legendaries will get bumped up to ascended once they release. They always were on par with exotics, i don´t know what you´re talking about there.
Recipes are all known and documented, and have been quite a while, you must´ve left rather early.
Pvp balance has had slight changes, nothing groundbreaking though.
Melee competes, always has(well, there was some trouble in betas), and will continue to do so.

The players appearing from nowhere was not a skill, it was a slow rendering bug that caused entire armies to not render until they were on top of you.
I could have sworn legendary weapons were slightly better than exotics at one time, i guess i was drunk.
Legendaries got better stats than exotics for a few hours after the introduction of Ascended items. And were quickly corrected.
For WvW, people not rendering can still happen, but I think they made improvments.

Culling is being fixed, i had to list all options for enemies appearing as i couldn´t have known which exactly was meant.
They did a test on workaround for culling this matchup, but it was rather disastrous, so they´re reverting it back. Luckily though it was just a quick test, so they are and have been working on a long term solution all this time. Personaly i´m anticipating major improvements in february along the content updates they´ve advertised to go live around that time.
