Hello,
First of all, my apologies for my english, i’m french but french forum is empty

So, let start. I’m playing GW2 with a mate who only play elem, and because we oftenly play as a duo, i’m looking for a good class for me, who would gives us some more boons, some cc and which is appreciated everywhere in the game, specially for raids (we are starting to search some party member for discover it).
I’m currently playing a guardian, but it start to bore me a bit, so i was thinking about the war or the rev, knowing they both have their place in raid (war with phalanx – it’s the same name in english?) and rev with his spe. I don’t care to have to change my build, I just don’t want to have to build 3 different characters for 3 different activities (currently, I have to take my engineer for pvp >.>).
We also are playing in open world (but there, you can play what you want, so we don’t care), pvp and wvw, in bus or for some roam.

So, I’d like to have some opinion on these classes for me to take my decision, i’m looking for a char who can have a good/nice/op dps without being dependent of my mate/who can be useful in a party for all of theses activities.
Anyway, if you think of an other class that I may have missed, don’t hesitate to talk about it, everything interest me =p

Thanks a lot, and good day to you

I can only speak from a pvp perspective so don’t take my advice for pvp and wvw.

In raids Revs are rarely played because they don’t many “unique” things to the party. There used to be a lot of them because of boon duration, but chonomancers have started bringing their own through their armor. Most Raids bring 2 warriors and they’re almost necessary. Unfortunately most players have a warrior as they usually have some of the easiest rotations. I personally rarely get invites as a warrior because that spot is usually always filled and you usually never want more than 2.

My suggestion is to consider running a minion master necromancer. They have decent damage, fun to play, and condi classe seem to be rarer than others. While the build is strong by itself, it gets better with a friend. A dagger/warhorn elementalist can easily sustain your summons by swapping to water every now and then to drop a heal on them.

I can’t think of any better than guard but you are guard already, rev is unstable right now and you are just being a boonbot in raid.

Well maybe Ranger/Druid is a good choice for you, with pet mechanics and Druid for healing along with many offensive buff abilities, you can boost up your ele friend dps alot while pet are able to tank and you can heal both of them, if you run condition druid – even better, but sadly alot of ranger out there might be a bit tough to get into raid,

Necro/Reaper also good as @KickzNGigglez said but youre not going to bring much of support to your friend beside tanking with minions.

Mesmer/Chrono with recently patch they nerfed ele cd quite a lot i think with chrono alacrity ( reduce cd for team ) might come in handy beside that you can bring more utility like portal, reflect etc, also mes can 1v1 very good if you know how to play ( in all game mode PvE/PvP/WvW ).

what about the mesmer? I think thats a good mix from the guard and would compliment the Ele really well. And you can run them in every game mode with very little variance if you want.

Best part of all, they can generate a nice range of Boons and then copy them to your party, as well as offer a nice rotation of CC while doing that.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your answers, I didn’t know the rev was in such a bad position. I’ll give a look the necro-pet, it seems pretty fun, and to the druid, I think I’m not ready for the mesmer, in my mind it still be a really hard-to-play class, as the engineer. But maybe one day, why not

Anyway, thanks again for your nice replies.
