A few weeks ago I switched from WoW to GW2 and I am enjoying every moment. But like every new guy I have a lot of questions. Mostly stupid stuff like "Now that I am 30, can I do a dungeon? If yes, why there´s no grozp listed in LFG tool? " and " How to make gold?" the obvious “How do I gear up?” and of course "wanna…. do something? ". How do I find a guild? Stuff like this. Any help will be apreciated. Like… seriously apreciated. I will appreciate the kitten out of it.
Peace.

Yes, kitten is their censor word.

And yes, at lv 30 you can do the story mode of the first dungeon.
The personal story is cut in sections at intervals of 10 levels. After 30 dungeons take the story of Destiny’s Edge (the group you met in lions arch). These story instances are not necessary for the personal story, but give ectra character development so theyre worth doing. At lv 30 its the Ascalonian Catacombs.
You’ll usually not find many storymode groups in LFG these days. Its been 4 years since most others did it. But you can always make a group yourself. And if it takes too long, ask in big guilds for help.
At lv 30 you get the story mode of the first dungeon, and at 5 levels later, you unlock adventure/explorer mode. That is 3 different ministories. Not related to the main story.

The adventure mode is done more, but its usually better/easier to do that at lv80.

30 (35) Ascalonian Catacombs
40 (45) Caudecus’ Manor
50 (55 or 80) Twilight Arbor
60 (65) Sorrow’s Embrace
70 (75) Citadel of Flame
76 (80) Honor of the Waves
78 (80) Crucible of Eternity
80 (80) the Ruined City of Arah, Orr
80 (no extra levels, but agony resistance) Fractals of the Mist

These are all the dungeons. Fractals of the Mist does not have a story mode. The Ruined City of Arah is the only required dungeon because its completion its the last story step.

.

How to farm gold, until youre lv80 and completed story, i wouldnt be too bthered with this.

.

How to gear up: look for an appropriate prefix for your armor. Berserker for raw power (warriors, etc) or Rabid or condition dealers. Knights if you want more defense, etc. Along the way of the story, heart vendors will sell armor and weapons for karma. You can also buy blue or green quality armor from Black Lions Trading Post (press O)
Armpr is useful, but dont spend too much gold on it, yet. Instead, at level 80 find the Ruined Temples in Orr, and reclaim them. There is a merchant at every temple selling Exotic quality armor for ~5000 karma a piece.
Armor comes in white, blue, green. Then Rare (yellow), Exotic (orange), Ascended (pink), and Legendary (purple). Exotic is the highest tradable quality available.

.

One tip; unlike WoW, there is no gear treadmill. Once at lv 80, all gear is 80, and all 80 gear is the same depending only on quality and prefix. Meaning if you have a lv 80 exotic piece of your desired prefix, its the best piece of armor until you yourself craft Ascended or Legendary

The LFG tool is a bit different in this game to many others. It won’t put you into a group automatically, it’s just to advertise them and then people join them manually.

So if you see no groups listed it’s not because you can’t do it, it’s just because no one is advertising for a group right now. But if you put up your own advert people will join.

Be aware the LFG tool also doesn’t teleport you to the dungeon. You have to at least get to the map it’s on, one member of the group needs to get to the entrance to activate the dungeon.

The most popular place is Lion’s arch – which will not be your starting point.

You can jump into the PvP hall and back to PvE without cost and ditto WvW. This may not be obvious.

Best advice is as above: follow your story line.

All races start off at different cities and have different initial stories. So don’t be afraid to have a mix of low characters at the start of the game.

You should find there is no grind in the core game- if you feel this way just switch to another character for new experiences. In general there is no benefit to fast levelling.

and of course "wanna…. do something? ". How do I find a guild?

I’d be surprised if you hadn’t come across a guild advertisement in map chat already. It really depends whether you want to join a social guild (friendly atmosphere, with people willing to help you out) or a more serious guild (no talking, but good rewards to reap in their guild halls).

As for friends? Make idle conversation with people who are willing to do events with you. If you press Y you can see and add friends. Also, by clicking on the “followers” tab of it, you can see people who’ve put you on their friends list.
Add me? I’m an active (and lonely) player.

Youll find the forums can be very helpfull IF youre putting in effort being nice and asking normal questions. Likewise the forum is also a place to summon a skritt downpour if youre rude or abbrassive. So if you make civil topics, you get civil conversations. Remember there are always a lot of people who love to help others, so never feel ashamed to ask noobish questions, we wuz nubs once, too
