A question regarding 'Style Sets'
Have been wondering this myself as well since “Costumes” in GW1 worked the same way. This would be great to know from someone that has purchased any of the sets. (One thing I will just mention in case anyone didn’t notice is that you have a heavy, medium, and light armor. Don’t make the mistake of buying heavy armor skins for your light armor player, even though it shows the preview )

As far as I’m aware it is a single use purchase which means you will have to buy it again if you want the look on another set of gear. Bit of a downer really
Could always use the transmutation stones.

Indeed you can use Transmutation Stones. You can obtain 3 at the time from completing a map. It seems to be standard reward. Although I haven’t gotten too far in the game so this is not a certainty from my end.

Indeed I could, but it just seems like it would be more effort than necessary. I guess I can wait.

- I can confirm, that you do indeed get 3 Basic Transmutation Stones every time you get 100% completion on any map.
I have the primeval set and bought it at level 1. I applied it to my cruddy starting gear and have used stones (transmutation stones) to transfer the skins from armor piece to piece as I have gone up in level and got better gear. I’ve even starting mixing it with other sets to make a cool and unique look.

Are those Transmutation Stones character bound? ‘Cause it doesn’t seem like it would be too terribly onerous to just make an alt to 100% one of the starting cities when you need a Transmutation. Takes hardly any time at all, really.
Goal: To have one character of every race, gender, and armor class combination at level 80.
Current progress: Human 4/6 | Charr 1/6 | Norn 1/6 | Sylvari 1/6 | Asura 1/6 | Total: 8/30
As others have already said, you need to use transmutation stones to re-skin the armor a second or even third time. Although, it seems like a pretty blatant cash-grab and I think the gem store skins should function exactly like the Hall of Monuments’ heritage armor skins do with unlimited re-skinning for free. All that needs to be done is implementing a new bank tab which stores your purchased skins and lets you withdraw them an unlimited number of times.

I’m sure they are account bound as they can be stored in the bank. Deleting and re-creating characters to get the stones would work, but in any event you can’t use them to reskin onto a level 80 item because you need the more expensive version of the transmutation stones to do so. These can only be bought with gems or randomly drop from Black Lion chests AFAIK.
