About unlocking masteries..
So on your hero panel, there is now a Masteries tab. This shows you all the masteries you have access to.
To unlock the ability to train in and use Masteries; you will need to play the first (pretty short) mission in HoT as it says.
Once you have done that, you can choose a Mastery line from your Mastery tab (some will be locked until certain conditions are met) with the big “Train” button. With your mastery selected, you have to do two things.
1: Gain experience. Each tear requires a different amount of experience to unlock. Your bottom bar will now keep track of your progress with this, and there’s a little icon on the right of the bar to remind you what mastery you are currently training. (Tip, this icon is also a shortcut to the Mastery tab)
2: Gain Mastery points. Mastery points are gained by doing certain achievements around the world. Check your achievement panel and your will see mastery icons on achievement categories. This lets you know which achieves reward mastery points. You should already have a few from completing the base story.
In HoT, there are also mastery points scattered about the new maps. You can get these by just channelling them like a hero point.
Once you have your exp bar filled for your mastery and you have enough points to spend; you can go into your mastery panel and click the square button on the mastery to unlock it.
The system will automatically start the next mastery in a particular line but you are free to swap around what mastery you are training whenever you wish. The experience you’ve earned for each mastery will stay.
If you want to get the most story out of the way, I’d suggest doing that first HoT mission to unlock masteries, then doing Living Story 2. It’s not mandatory but you’ll get an idea of how our heroes came to know to attack the jungle dragon.
Those are 2 different things and it mentions 2 different things: Masteries and Mastery Tracks. What is the difference?
Mastery Tracks are the categories. Masteries are the individual sections within those categories. For example “Gliding” is the Mastery Track but “Updraft Use” is the second mastery in “Gliding”
