Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Hello people of GW2! I’m in the arduous journey of crafting Quip, the legendary pistol on my thief. Right now I have my mystic clovers and the gift of mastery. I know many people who frequent the forums have more gold than they’ll ever need, but flipping thousands of event items that only drop for a month.
If anyone has more gold than they know what to do with, I’d greatly appreciate any help anyone could send. I’ll accept both gold and T6 mats, and even orichalcum, gossamer, and T3-4-5-6 wood (gifts of wood and entertainment). If theres any other thing you would want in return for your help, let me know and I’d be glad to do so, like if you wanted to regularly run dungeons or fractals or anything like that
Thanks in advance, and feel free to comment or message me ingame about anything. I know this post may open itself to trolls, but I thought I’d like to see how far asking politely could get me
A legendary is suppose to be an accomplishment not something handed to you. Why would anyone give a random player their hard earned gold? If you were to get the gold from someone would you even remember them later on or would you just post another topic asking for gold for the next item on your list.
Your best options would be to:
-Play more and farm the gold yourself
-Ask your in game friends and guild mates
-Use your CC and buy gems → gold
-Offer a service, become a merc for an hourly rate
Panhandling is rude and selfish in a game.
I want to give u gold but with the new invasion event going every hour I suggest u farm that even. I’m sure u will get a number gold in no time. Trust me this event is the best and fastest event to get gold. Your legendary should be legendary not accepting gold from ppl. Its not much of a legendary anymore if you’ re asking for help.
Anet should start a new profession, panhandler.
Equipped with dual begging-bowl and exotic armour set, ‘filthy rags’.
The class mechanic would be ‘spam-chat’ with requests for gold on all channels.
First of all I never ask people ingame or in map chat for help. I have a limited amount of time to play, being a college student with limited money to even buy gems.
That being said, I understand the importance of working towards a legendary, but my aquaintances got help with theirs all the time, sometimes by me just giving them 50 gossamer bolts, or in my other case my friend using his and his friends money to mystic forge dawn (he needed dusk) which he sold, and has someone to fund the other half of his precursor. While these guys are my friends, I don’t feel like they’d be welling to help me right now anyway, as the activities to make gold means I can’t wvw wit them as much, and they’re al busy with projects such as the aforementioned one.
Also with the Invasion I’m not getting game breaking levels of gold, as I’m not gonna sell any T6 mats, and lodestone drops from champ bags are rare for me, maybe 1-2gold per event if even.
Te mega wealthy of this game will probaly never need any more gold. I don’t think its a problem if they were generous to others, even those they don’t know, almost like an act of charity.
That being said, I understand the importance of working towards a legendary
Please indulge me.. Why oh why do you HAVE TO get a legendary?
I can’t be kitten with those legendaries, tbh.. Too much RNG, nothing to do with skills, …

When I said that I didn’t mean I HAVE to get a legendary. I was merely responding to one of the comments by saying that if you want a legendary you do have to either be lucky or work your kitten off for it, or both.

There is no importance to working towards a Legendary unless you want one and then it is only important to you. Game breaking, no. From what you wrote it looks like you helped your friends out but it doesn’t appear they are that willing to help you out now. You may want to look for a guild that is willing to help guild members in working on making a legendary via some teamwork, not donations.
Your last paragraph stumps me. It sounds entitled and you don’t seem to realize those folk worked hard to get what gold they have or mats etc. even if they had the wherewithal to buy it. You may not think it a problem if they were ‘generous’ to you but it is disturbing you would so readily think it is alright to take the easy way out by just asking folk to donate to your cause. Adversity breeds character, working towards a legendary builds self discipline to wait when you have to, plan and think ahead and work to get to the goal you have in mind. Being a college student is no excuse in my book. Anyone can budget money for what they want if something is important enough. Ask for gem cards for birthday or holiday gifts. Put money aside that you would spend for cigarettes or snacks or other non-essentials until you have enough to do what you want to do.
If you have limited time to play then you need to budget what time you have to getting to those accomplishments.
Getting off my Mother soap box now…..
I’m aiming this post towards the people who are sitting on thousands of gold, and buy thousands of event items like wind catchers or desert rose skins to maintain their great amount of in game wealth buy selling them months after that event, which does require work, luck, and most importantly strategy in its own. If I get a chance I will attempt to do the same as them with the money I do have from playing the game and living story as a normal person. I don’t think theres anything wrong in asking for help out of the blue, because you never know what can happen, even though I don’t expect anyone to help me out just because of this post, but I don’t want to leave any opportunities unexplored. I don’t want to sound entitled, I merely wish to put myself out there in case I get lucky by someone really wealthy and generous ingame reading this. Its not all that different than getting lucky with a precursor drop. I mean this is the players helping player forum, people can ask for whatever help they want and people can help them if they desire to, but in no ways are people obligated to do so and judging ones character based on just asking for help is a bit insensitive in my book. I’m putting my thoughts and wishes out to the universe so to speak and if I’m lucky, I may get what I desire, which is essentially the Law of Attraction that many people believe in.
And for the records I don’t smoke cigarettes or do any type of drugs lol, so I will try to take your budgeting advice to heart

Well your thread is still spam.
People who have thousands of gold are not going to hand over their money to a total stranger in a forum. To a friend or guildie maybe, but not a stranger who wants money for a vanity item. When people do hand over money to strangers it’s for items needed to live, not for vanity items. If you think some wealthy person will hand over money to you for a vanity item then you are not understanding human nature.
People with money are going to think, I worked for mine now he can work for his.
Think how often in real life a wealthy person hands out cash to a total stranger to buy a vanity item. Then figure your odds of getting a handout from the forum from that.

I hate it when people call game-tokens ‘money’.
It hasn’t even got ‘Bank of Toytown’ printed on it.
I’m not sure how to take the idea of people begging for it. I mean. that’s a new low even for humanity.
Ooooh! Can I get a Bank of Toytown Visa????
I feel kinda pathetic I even posted this. Something so great and valuable should be earned, not handed to. I’m sorry to everyone who rolled their eyes when reading this, its depressingly hard trying to get a legendary, and with the rising T6 mat and precursor prices, I feel like I’ll never get a legendary.
If I knew how to delete this thread I would, but I do not know how to.

Work on what you can. Set little goals. It’ll trickle in bit by bit as long as you stick to them.
I worked on getting the RNG aspect out of the way first. I finished my clovers, then WvW exploration. I was one of the few lucky enough to land my precursor (The Bard), but long before that, I decided I would either save up the gold or wait for craftable pres- in either case, it would eventually come and I made my peace with it.
I did little steps- when I ran into hearts while getting from point A to B, I finished them. I also grabbed vistas and PoIs. That gave me less to do when I did systematic map completion. I made it a point to get the boring or difficult maps (Orr, the Kryta areas in my opinion) out of the way first so I could save my favorites (Ascalon) for last. If I realized I was burning out on a map, I switched off my world completion icons and just went exploring rather than completing- I got a lot done while having more fun, and it wasn’t a hassle to go back and pick up the last bits. I saved up my karma and always used boosts before drinking them, and didn’t spend my karma on anything if I could help it. I also stopped selling T6 materials and ectos and shelved my Ascended backpiece goals for later.
Regarding T6 materials for Gift of Fortune, I set a goal for myself. I aim to buy 20 Powerful Bloods every day, and I don’t let myself purchase anything else until I do so. Once I finish Bloods, I’ll move to the second most expensive T6, and so on. I do a variety of activities- some Pavilion farming, some invasions, but if I get tired, I rest. I make sure I have time to do the things I like in the game so I don’t burn out, and always keep in mind that it’s just a skin in the end. I go to my bank often to look at my steadily growing stack of T6, and often the sight alone is enough to make me feel encouraged. I remind myself that as long as I keep buying bloods, even if the price increases, I’ll get there.
However, I think the most important thing is that I’m not doing any of this alone. I explore maps with other people, newbies and friends, whenever the opportunity presents itself- it’s much more enjoyable than doing it solo. I have a great friend who I chat with over voice while I play and who I spamlink my T6 stacks to daily (and who keeps encouraging me along). We do dailies/LS achievements together, and run dungeons with other close friends in a semi-static group, and breeze through them with ease- even putting our own twist on them by duoing and trioing paths in less time than a full five-man group. Or sometimes we take newbies along and teach them in a friendly environment.
Overall, I take a relaxed approach to things- not actively farming, but doing a variety of things I like in a way I like, and just letting stuff come in at a slow but even pace while saving up and splitting things into small goals. Taking a “it will come” view. Again, though, it’s a much easier and enjoyable process with company. Maybe you can find other people working on a legendary and collaborate- form a static group to do regular runs, chat during map completion, and so on.
