Okay, so I wonder if someone can help me here.

I’m on my level 80 thief getting some world-discovery done, and I found the Karma vendors in Fireheart Rise for the Godskull weapons. I proceeded to buy them for my other characters, as my thief is Leatherworking/Cooking, and I have Artiface and Weaponsmithing on alts.

Upon trying to move the recipes to another bag while continuing my exploring, I accidentally double-clicked one… and a dialogue appeared that I had learned it. On my thief! Who doesn’t have that skill, nor do either of my alts have skill high enough to learn any of them! Does anyone know what might have happened to that recipe? It disappeared from my inventory… I’ll buy another for now, I’m just curious if anyone else has run into this problem.

Thanks!!

You learned it. If you thief ever change to Weaponsmithing even on lvl 0 you will have the recipe in red text(since you don’t have enough skill).

You don’t need to have required profession lvl to learn recipe.

Bah. But my other characters have no access to it then.

Okay, thank you!

Are you sure that just because your thief read the recipe that it is not known across all your characters now? I thought any character could read it and then it would be known across your account rather than being soulbound. I’m kind of sad if this isn’t the case because I’ve bought and read a few recipes for alts and now I’ll have to go back and buy them again

The quick way to check is to bring up the alt’s craft panel and see if that recipe is there in red. I am pretty sure that it’s learned on the character that clicks it, though, and if/when that alt gets to the skill level, they’ll know it.

It’s individual. I know because all of my alts had to individually learn each of the Halloween recipes.

Basically you can use a main with a ton of karma to buy lots of them for all your alts.

80 Guardian. 80 Warrior. 80 Thief. 80 Engineer. 80 Necromancer. 80 Ranger.

@Lexy, I can also vouch for this… The recipe was not on my alt (it happened to be my artifacer that I was looking at) after I learned it on my thief. When I bought it a second time and sent it to my artifacer, once she learned it, it appeared on her crafting tab in red, as described.

So, yes, you can buy the recipe on any character, but learning it on the character that buys it will not unlock it on all other characters across that account.
