Hi, i could’nt really find an appropriate place to post this feedback (wich I feel is important to be reported).
I’m writing this because i’m using this method to get Arena net point, and i’m feeling really bad about doing it. And for thoses who said “if you don’t like it don’t do it”, i will respond that I “have to” if I want to stay competitive in the long run.

Lets start with explaining the issue, I love the idea of being no ceiling on AP (Arenanet Points), but at the moment with the “Agent of Entropy” as one of the only viable way to get an huge ammount (the other being daily / monthly rewards which are fine), i feel like I have to not only salvage everything i loot exceptec Exotic / rare, but Buy salvagable mats from the Trading Post.
You can get AP incredibly easily by buying salvagable stacks of 250 item for less than 40 silvers. Thus you get almost 1 AP for 15 silver if you take time (not counting the selling of the mats afterhand wich can almost nullify the costs).

This render every others achievements almost useless, because in the long run, peoples who get theirs points in this way will have more points, without exploring the world, trying everything they could do (wich is one of the point of having Achievements).

It would be great if the way to continue earning points beyond getting new achievements (there is a finite numbers of them) or doing dailies (there are a finite numbers of days too), would be to get something like Experiences, more skills poits, monsters / players kills, or any other way that you can think of that the player have to “earn”, and not simply buy at the Trading post, spam clicking 1000 times the items sell salvaged mats, and repeat.

You say you feel you need to in order to stay competitive, but since they serve no purpose at the moment I can’t really grasp how that is the case. Unless you’re in a guild that uses its roster as some sort of scoreboard I guess.

My issue with this endless achievement is that it is not saving my lifetime progress.

For example, I filled this ‘endless’ achievement bar twice now, and instead of listing “4 points” in the points earned field, it says “0”.

Other than this minor issue I have no problem with this achievement. If people want to spend a lot of money salvaging things, what’s the problem?

Achievements aren’t pointless, they just don’t improve your character power, they’re as usefull as having an impressive weapon / armor skin, it’s for showing how dedicated you are to this game.

I know a lot of people who are pretty serious about completing everything possible in this game, and the most popular way to judge how much a player did in the game is to class them by AP.

I know this isn’t a gamebreaking problem at the moment, and Arena net have probably a lot more urging problems to solve, but this issue will arise when the majority of the “completionist” are approching 100% of the finite numbers of Achievements present in the game. and i don’t find it compelling that the only way to get “high score” is salvaging, i’m fine with it being ONE way, but there should be others (and maybe this one is a bit too easy for the huge number of points you could earn, i’m making something like 20pt / day with it without focusing that much on it, thats more than 2 times daily achievements points)

I don’t really understand why your worried about other people so much, as far as I can tell achievement points are for you and you only, if you are measuring yourself against someone else you will always be bias even if they are ahead of you in experience and the AP doesn’t show it.
