Acquring laurels
Daily log in rewards and taking the Laurel on each 28th days. Sometime there is some festivals dailies like in winterdays, etc. Those daily usually give you additional laurels, but they are only in-game a few times per year.

Usually laurels are the best choice for the 28th login reward anyway as they offer you the most – ascended trinkets/recipes, (wvw) infusions (maybe also others i dont play pve) and also gold
PvP, Teef & Engi
Farm AP, you get them in AP chests. No loads but some, I think you get 1 or 2 in most chests, but the 5000 and 10,000 you get 10 I think. And you get 400 gems. I can say about anything past that as I can only see to 11k and there only a few in the next chests after that, I’m only just about to ding my 9.5K chest.
