Additional Game Copy or Gems ?
Uh…gems. Why go through such hassel for extra characters? Im at 9 characters by using game gold. Im HOPING the cost of the game would give you far more than 4 character slots so gems should be far more worth it.
Much better just getting the extra character slot(s). If you get another account, you have to do all the achieves, etc all over again.

New character slot is $10 if you buy gems with cash or roughly 27 gold if you buy gems with in-game gold. Have you found a source of unused GW2 copies for less than $10?
RIP City of Heroes
I remember in GW1 when it was cheaper to buy new accounts during sales than to buy character slots. You could get 5-8 character slots for the same price as 2.
Uhh I would go with a new character slot..It’s 800 gems ($10) for one new slot. Not sure about right now, but pretty sure gw2 was like $60 when I bought it..And a new account should get you 5 character slots..So that’s still not even a better deal.

Just wait for the character slots to go on sale for 20% off. :D
Character slots are $10 each (800 Gems), a new copy of GW2 is now $50, or $10 per character slot… basically same price, except you now have two accounts to do all the achieves on and such.
Probably better at this point to just get character slots, especially if you can wait for them to be 20% off as Esplen suggested!
Advantages of character slots:
- Cheaper if you only one 1 character slot (evens out if you count 5 slots that come with a new game, though)
- No need to log with a different login/password to switch characters
- Shared bank (easier sharing of items between characters)
- New achievements count towards the maximun done (so you get new chests)
- Can use the weapons and armor unlocked already in the achievements and PvP Chests.
Advantages of new copy
- Extra banks space.
- Ability to mail items to other characters (but can’t share account bound items, like skins or dungeon tokens).
Personally I’d go with the character slots.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
