Around the edges of The Grove map are 4 named areas which, as far as I can tell, cannot be reached at present. Going clockwise from top-right they are: Necrolith Bay, The Sea Rider’s Gate, Seawatcher’s Ledge and Privet Gardens.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get into any of these, what they are and if they might be added to the game at a later date?
I’ve found a way into a tiny area that seems to be part of Necrolith Bay on the bottom level, but it’s a deadend and I’m pretty sure it’s more of an easter egg than anything. I’ve also found that just opposite the upper entrance to Gardenroot Tunnel there is a section of wall with gaps you can see through that looks like it was added after the rest of the tunnel was made (in a game design sense, it’s got the same texture and colour but the edges can be clearly seen where the pattern doesn’t join up) it looks like there was/should be a path through to the Privet Gardens but they’ve blocked it off for now.
Does anyone have any ideas? I noticed something similar (in this case a blocked cave) near the Ruins of Rin in The Black Citadel and I know there are a few unused areas and at least 1 non-fuctional gate in Rata Sum.
My guess is they left themselves space to expand each of the cities in future, but it seems strange that the 4 in the Grove are already labelled on the map. Every time I’m there I find myself wondering if I’ve just missed the entrance.
Probably just future planned content.
