Adopt a Newbie Welcome Committee!

With the big sale happening this weekend (And a while after) there is no doubt that a lot of new players will jump into the game for the very first time. It can be quite daunting to start up in a new MMO where newbies are frequently made fun off in others game.

But one of Guild Wars 2’s strong points has always been it’s great and helpful community and I think this is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that in a big way by welcoming newcomers with open arms.

So, I figured it would be nice if some of us veterans were to hang out in the starting zones to welcome and assist new players with any questions they might have. You could even find a newbie to adopt and level up with them using an alt so they wouldn’t have to play alone.

Anyway, I’ve done this before when there was a sale and the good response I had from doing so made me decide to do this again with this sale and I was hoping to encourage more veterans to do the same by posting these suggestions here

Aahhhh, the Secret Toymaker was a blast, I just wish there was some in-game LFG tool for the purpose of matching up needy new players with willing mentors… What we have now is very scary (and may unlock much later for players, due to the NPE?)

I was a GW player right from the start, loved the wonderful pvp tournaments, the Guild Halls, and the knockout arenas.
Just bought GW2 on sale, can you recommend a good guild(s) to look for once I get in?

Hey guys, I am not new really but I left the game a while back after really not finding that community feeling. I don’t have any IRL friends that play but I am all for making friends on here.
I forget the level of my main, id assume in the 40’s maybe but I was wondering if anybody would like to take me in. Maybe run an instance or two with me or even invite me to a guild/clan?

I’d love to meet new friends in a new game. I have no server yet but I plan on playing on a PvE US EST if I can, once I finish downloading and logging in.

I’m not really the player who will teach you all ins and outs about the game, I will however answer any question you’ve got to the best I can

And if possible, I’ll even setup a dungeon run / whatever run with players willing to guide you!

New to the world of Guild Wars, I always wanted to play this MMO series kinda wish I would have played the original but I sadly missed out I heard it was amazing. This is awesome. Should set up a dungeon event since that’s the thing I see people getting mad at noobs most for. Idk maybe something like Saturday is noob dungeon night or something?

This is an awesome idea! As someone who just picked up the game having someone I can just send a quick message to on a random (undoubtedly embarrassing) simple question is great.

I can’t tell which server is located where and I’m on east coast also. I’m just going to pick one I guess.

I ran into a few new guys last night, trying to get to Rhendrak, had about 10 people follow me through the puzzle.

Had about 30 people eventually join us for the fight, was pretty cool. I like helping out the new guys, I had people help me when I came back after a year and so I share my knowledge with those less experienced as well.

Its the way a community should be.

I’ll volunteer for the OCE/SEA timezones.

I’m good for PVE and WvW basics.

Have been a coach in my former guild, so yes. count me in!

Or you could have a status of mentor (similar to the invisible or away statuses) and new players could be given a button that would automatically send a party request to a free mentor (I.e on who is not in a party already)
