Hi,

I am a returning player, have levelled a number of characters to 80, and am currently playing a Mesmer.

Having hit lvl 35 on my Mesmer, I have decided to try some dungeon content but am curious as to how this works.

Is there any point my trying to join an Ascalonian group via the LFG system? I only ask as most groups seemed comprised of Lvl 80s.

Also, having not run the dungeon before, am I obliged to do the story version first?

Finally, is there any point in my trying to start a lvl 35 group via the LFG system?

Most groups are comprised of level 80’s simply because levelling is quite quick in this game so most people have hit level 80, and because you generally get better rewards by playing on a high level character. It’s also easier in spite of level scaling.

Having said that you absolutely can start a group at level 35 and it will probably fill up fairly quickly. I recommend saying in the description whether you’re looking for someone with a higher level character to teach you and/or carry you through or other low level players to figure it out alongside you and also mention whether you’ve never done the path before or if you know the route from doing it on other characters.

Finally if someone else in your group has done explorable mode and they enter first you’ll be able to do it without doing story mode first. If not you’ll have to do story mode and after that you can access all the explorable paths yourself.

You may like to try out story mode dungeons first. They are a bit more relaxed and can easily be completed with lower levels. This will give you the opportunity to be introduced to the dungeon game play.

If you only want to level your Mesmer you can do the dungeon with one of your level 80 and then swap at the boss to your mesmer so he can get the XP.
