Without crafting.

I want to continue key running and would like to get to level 10 by playing the game. I’ve seen people post that they are getting to level 7 in 30 minutes and level 10 in an hour or less. One poster even said he can map all of Caledon in 20 minutes. However it’s taking me considerably longer, about 2 hours, to get to level 10. Any advice on what to do to level quickly would be appreciated.

The absolute quickest way would be to use an Experience Scroll after finishing the racial tutorial area, but these have only been distributed as part of the birthday gifts (one each time your character turns another year older) as well as once every 5000 achievement points. If you do have any, and don’t plan to use them for anything else, they will be scarce to come across and will not be sustainable.

I did hear whispering about leveling to 10 using Cooking and karma-bought ingredients, but alas, I don’t know any more details about that.

Yes, I plan to use the scrolls I have but there are only so many of them and soon they will be gone.

I would prefer not to craft as that takes either gold or karma. Spending 1 or 2 gold to craft to level 10, just to get a booster and a couple of other items doesn’t strike me as cost effective. I used up all my karma previously (as in less than 20k karma remaining) filling up my wardrobe for the title and buying obby shards for ascended crafting. I need to replenish it before I start using it again, though cooking with all hearts is a possibility.

It’s just that I’ve seen posts saying they get to level 10 by playing the game within a short time and I was hoping for tips on how they did that.

There was a reddit link where people were discussing ways. But basically it required crafting cooking up to level 200, and running a few hearts. Reports had it at it around 20-25 minutes. However it cost about 1.5 gold at current TP prices. I assume you are looking for a viable post patch key run?

I don’t PvP but I would be willing to try it. It would depend on how fast it would take to get 8 scrolls. It it takes longer than 1.5 hours then I’d be better off leveling, with some refining of low level mats thrown in or some cooking.

Using your experience scrolls would be a waste. You can convert them for 50-60 silver. Do you really want to invest 5-6 gold to level to 10 every single key run?

I was kind of planning to use them on my new chars and buy augur’s stones with the skill points. I need those for my ascended crafting anyway.

I was also planning to use them get to level 20, do the two sets of story lines for one key, and then level to 30 for a second key, if they still have it at the level 30 storyline

The fist BL key is at the end of LVL 10 PS (same as it has always been….or so I’ve been told). It did NOT change to where it is awarded in China version (which seems quite odd in terms of WHY the changes if it does not fully consolidate the code).

They have removed (or moved) the LVL 30 key (from reports I have seen on these forums). I have no idea if it shows up later or not.

How long does it take to map the major cities? I know I always get to level 6 on all of my new characters by mapping The Grove and Hoelbrak, and then doing a partial mapping of Lion’s Arch, Rata Sum, Divinity’s Reach, and the Black Citadel. I don’t even know how much experience you get if you completely map all of them, but it would have to get you to at least level 7

For a low level character without any sort of passive speed boost this seems slow.

It would probably be better to wait for next week’s patch(es) to see how things settle before trying to figure out how to do this the fastest.

Uh, you do know that you can talk to NPC’s and interactable objects to get speed boons. Right? Or are those level-gated now, as well?
