After level 80, whats next?
(This is probably better for the “Players Helping Players” forum.)
This is why the level 80 boost wasn’t the best thing. With an auto 80 character, you’re skipping essentially what the “training mode” of the game is. Get out in the world, explore things and do some events. Get some waypoints, points of interest, etc. Basically, anything to learn your class better.
Whatever the daily is, try to do three of those. For longer-term stuff, do some story missions. Find a beginner’s group for dungeons and low level fractals. The simplest answer is do things that you enjoy. I would also strongly suggest going to the collection vendor in Lion’s Arch and start working on those. You want to do anything that will gain you Achievement Points. Don’t worry about trying hard to make gold as that will come with time and experience.
For customing your character (equipment and build) you need to learn the Hero Panel. Explore all the options there and get a general idea of what each section offers. I’d suggest hitting the /wiki for specific stuff (like Specializations and Traits).
Above all, remember the /wiki is your best friend for general knowledge. And going to a site like Metabattle will help you find builds others have come up with.
Good luck, Typhoon.
Yes I do agree with the boost not really a thing but for some players, we really dont have the time specially for (working/student) players to grind to get to level 80. anyways thanks for the tip advice. I will definitely check them out specially the options for /wiki
There isent really a grind to get to 80 in this game, everything gives exp
Press B and join Eternal Battlegrounds.
1) Join a good guild – ask their advice on builds.
2)Get your toon equipped with exotics. At some time get Ascended jewellery. Buy Amulet with laurels, accessories from guild commendations, rings from fractals.
3)Try out sPvP – some like it a lot.
4) Have a go at WvW – you will more than likely die here but it can be fun.
5) Start the HoT storyline. This will open up the Berzerker stuff, gliding and a whole lot more.
6) Don’t forget Fractals, Dungeons and the Raid.
7) Exotics not good enough? Consider Ascended armor/weapons. Much more expensive and not that much better. Only really needed for the Raid and higher fractals.
8)Your account has more than one character slot. Try the other classes? You might like one better. Each class in GW2 plays differently so you may find you prefer different ones for doing different things.
I would go into HoT to unlock mastery levels and get glider level 1. Then go back and wonder how you ever played without it in central Tyria.
RIP City of Heroes
Getting to 80 really isn’t a goal, it’s just what happens whilst you’re doing everything else in the game.
First thing to do is to gear up, if you’re happy with the boosted gear then you can do the second thing which is.. whatever you want. Probably HoT for elite spec so start the HoT story.
Definitely agree with joining a guild, it can be bewildering otherwise.
If you’re doing HoT and on US servers at UK times I’d be happy to show you around. Other time zones are covered by other people, ask/look around.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!
we really dont have the time specially for (working/student) players to grind to get to level 80.
The irony is the only thing a lvl 10-79 dont have access is the raid. When you become lvl 10 you have access to 99% of the game, so no need for grinding. What you will do now as a new 80 is almost the same thing you would have do if you hadnt use the boost : exploring, event, pvp …
set a target. for example, getting the Eternity. or 169 Mastery level. or anything.
Archeage = Farmville with PK
The way I think of it is that at levels 1-79 GW2 is basically your typical linear RPG – you play in one area until you’ve reached a high enough level for the next one and/or finished all the content, then you move on, and you keep going until you reach the maximum level.
(This is a slight over-simplification since there are multiple zones and game modes available at any level and you’re free to move between them, but in general that’s how it works.)
At level 80 it becomes much more like a sandbox game. There are many different areas and activities available to you but nothing you have to do and not set order to do them in. It can be daunting but it can also be a lot more fun.
I recommend doing whatever you feel like, whenever you feel like doing it. If you haven’t already find a friendly guild that’s happy to teach new members and ask them for ideas or join them when they’re doing stuff. When you’re on your own explore the maps, do the story, try out WvW and PvP.
There might be a steep learning curve at first but once you get a feel for what you enjoy doing you’ll be able to focus on the stuff that interests you.
