Aggro meccanic
Your friends are absolutely right. The guardians tale aggro very easily and can kite-tank as long as they want and with much less effort than the other classes
It might be as simple as the guardian is closer to the mob. And the mob usually hit target closer to them.
It’s based on your toughness I believe.
Every time I run Arah for Lupicus Lupi always goes after me because I am power/tough/vit geared on my warrior. The two other guardians had lower toughness then me and that’s why I ended up avoiding lupi most of the battle.
Several factors.
Warriors/Guardians draw more aggro by default.
Toughness increases threat generation.
Melee weapons draw generate more threat than ranged.
Shield adds even more threat generation.
Do you even lift, bro?

There have been several occasions where I’m out roaming the wilderness with my warrior, come across a boss battle and decide to give a hand. Then only a few moments later I spend the rest of the battle kyting the boss while everyone else stand back, laughs and enjoys the easy kill.
Hi everyone,
You might want to check this link regarding aggro http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro.
Hope it helps you. Thanks for your understanding
This is the proof monsters are stupid ^^ Hey, I’m sure an enemy player will target the highest dps weaker opponent first. I do this when I fight NPC, I do not target the one that will go down the slowest, I try to kill the one who deals the most dps and who is the weakest so I can kill him fast and therefore lower the damage done to me…

Thank you Moderator!
I’ve already read the wiki, but it doesn’t talk about class specific criteria of aggro attribution…
Warriors/Guardians draw more aggro by default.
Are you sure about this?
Weren’t all the classes supposed to be able to fullfil every role in GW2 (and therefore: wouldn’t such meccanic be against this principle?)?
P.S.: sorry if my English is somehow uncorrect.
As long as you don’t stack Toughness on your Warrior/Guardian you can do alright. You just have to watch yourself because you have an easier time grabbing aggro than everyone else.

As the wiki says, your armor stat (toughness + defense) will increase the aggro you get. Since Guardians/Warriors wear heavy armor they have an easier time getting aggro.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I’ve played a Guardian since launch, I can’t speak much for the other classes but i do not seem to aggro mobs more often than any of my party members.

^This.
It doesn’t come with the class per say, but by the armour.

I’m almost 100% sure that same enemies and especially boss and semi-bosses in dungeon have unique aggro rules. The general rule is as above but i meet some enemies with additional rules who like to target players with weakest armor, or with low health, or priority downed or reviving players.
