As far as I know maximum reachable AR is 45 atm, correct me if info is outdated.
Can I infuse Asceneded Ring in which I put Versatile Simple Infusion (+5 AR),
or I can infuse to +10 AR only Pre-infused ones using this Mystic Forge Recipe?:
1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence
3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence
5 Vials of Condensed Mists Essence

If you have an Ascended Ring, it will have 0 AR. You can apply an Infusion into it, which will make it have +5 AR (equivalent to putting a Rune into your armor). You can also Infuse the Ring itself, giving it inherent +5 AR (equivalent to upgraded your armor). When you Infuse your Ring, you lose any Infusion inside the Ring. After you have Infused your Ring, you may apply an Infusion into the ring again.

Key words:
Infuse = Infusing via Mystic Forge.
Infusion = Applying an Infusion, similar to applying a Rune.

Example:
Bob and Joe both have an Ascended Ring.
Bob puts an Infusion into his Ring, he now has +5 AR.
Joe infuses his Ring, he now has +5 AR.

Later, Bob decides he wants more AR, so he upgrades his Ring via the Mystic Forge (he infuses his Ring, just like Joe did earlier). He loses his Infusion in the process. He still has +5 AR. Bob now has to apply another Infusion into his Ring to get to +10 AR.

Joe, on the other hand, wants to get more AR. Since Joe has already Infused his Ring, he just needs to apply an Infusion. Joe puts an Infusion inside. Joe now has +10 AR.

Infusion = Applying Rune.
Infuse = Upgrading gear.

When you apply a Rune, it goes into your gear.
When you upgrade gear, you throw away your old gear (with the Rune inside of it).

Thanks for this info, good thing I didn’t put infusion inside my trinkets yet,
tho another question:
If I get reward from FoTM chest as pre-infused ring with +5 AR inside,
I have to infuse it loosing +5 AR or I just put another infusion inside it
just like in “Joe’s” example?…

Wiki or any other sources I found aren’t that clear on that, have to ask
on forums, good thing there’s clear answers like yours.

The rings you get that are Infused… are Infused. I kept my wording… distinguishable for this reason.

Trivia of FotM rewards:

  • You have a chance to get an ascended ring at fotm daily chest lvl10+
  • At level 20+ the ring has a chance to become automatically infused
  • At level 26+ the ring will be automatically infused

Trivia of Infusing:

  • Only ascended rings and backpieces can be infused
  • Infused items will have an additional suffix called “(Infused)” (e.g. “Silver ring” → “Silver Ring (Infused)”)
  • You can only infuse “un-infused” items
  • Infused items preserve their stats and get an additional line “+5 Agony Resistance”
  • Infusing replaces the “un-infused” item with an infused items. Meaning it will be a new item – empty slot and not soulbound
  • Infusing rings in mystic toilet costs ring + 5 vials + 3 clobs + 1 shard
  • Infusing backpieces in mystic toilet cost backpiece + 1 clob + 250 ectoplasms + 1 gift of ascension (excluding karka shell)

Trivia on infusions:

  • Infusions are upgrades you can put into infusion slots
  • Offensive infusions only fit into offensive infusion slots, defensive in defensive and utility in utility slots (amulet only). Omni infusions fit in any infusion slot.
  • Inserting an infusion will overwrite the previous infusion

By pre-infused, the sources mean that the ring is its upgraded Infused version- the kind of upgrade you get by putting it in the Mystic Forge. It has an empty infusion slot.

No source will give you a ring with the infusion slot already filled.
