Sadly I can’t really get into the altaholicism here as I did with City of Heroes.
RIP City of Heroes
I love these sort of threads.
I am an altaholic too. I currently have 15 x L80s on my main account and space for two new ones once HoT arrives. I have an additional account too with one L x 80 and two or three little ones. I hardly ever play that account though.
I don’t delete my characters anymore as I am mindful of the birthdays but also I know what I want now. I remember deleting a necro when I first started because I didn’t like the death thing. Now I have two
I guess my only funny story (well, not really funny) was poor Flynn, my one and only Charr. He went to the hairdressers one day and emerged as Fenella. I told him it was that or deletion so he went along with it.
I’m a less intense Altaholic than you, but still.
I have 8 characters level 80 and I play and used to play pretty much all of them.
My first was my Engineer, then I switched my main to my guardian, hated my ranger, fall in love with my Elementalist, started to farm CoF path 1 with my Mesmer and never touched it again when they changed dungeon, I fully equipped my Necro for WvW and stop playing that mode right after, made my Warrior for Dungeon with runes of strenght but after 100 dungeons just stop using him, fall in love a second time with the Thief this time, then I recently rediscovered my ranger for World boss. I have my champion title in PvP for 5 of my 8 character and a 6th is coming soon with my Necro.
I think that on third my time in game is on my main the Guardian, but the rest of my hours are almost evenly distributed between all my alts.

How could you really tell with charr? Unless you know what to look for another species would probably assume charr do not have the concept of gender.
11 lv80 and 10 world completions but I am not an altaholic. I have multiple characters because I like be prepared for anything and everything. The game does not require specific classes for completing content but some classes are still better than others when it comes to certain thing. For example I prefer engineer for fighting Bookworm Bwikki and a warrior for doing guild treks.
Pufft, sorry I love my alt, and could never delete one.
4 Lvl80 Warriors, 1 male human, 1 male Charr, 1 male Norn, 1 female Norn. I started all these before we could freely change spec. So they where all for different things, DPS, support, Tank, and I just wanted a female Norn, Jora was one of my Favourite Hero’s in GW1.
Lvl 80 Guardian Human Male.
Lvl80 Necromancer Female Human.
Lvl80 Ranger Female Norn.
And a free slot for a Revenant.

martaug, seems that your “problem” isn’t being an altholic, the problem is that you don’t know what you want and keep deleting your characters.
I have all the 8 classes at lvl 80, all well geared, all have at least 110 PvP matches, and so on, and I have an slot for my future revenant, another for a future tengu (it is already holding the name) and another for key farm and testing.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
^^ +1 , yeah I think its more having the attention span of a ferret than anything.
I didn’t play gw2 for well over a year, had other things going on. Just got back into it about 3 & 1/2 months ago & I think I’m enjoying it more than when I first started.
I am an Altaholic in all my games though. I have 16 characters in DCUO, a dozen or so in DDO, 8 in Rifts, a crapton in WoW (boo! hiss! the game that shall not be named!!!)
and about a dozen other games.
Did I mention the short attention span? Lol
Hi,
Unlike you OP, I can’t get myself to delete any characters that are over like lvl 10 or so.
This resulted in me spending in game gold to purchase gems for char slots and kittening my bank card. I haven’t made a single legendary, nor have 100% map complete on any of my characters. I have only 1 full zerker set of trinkets on my main account.
I often play a character of my fav class so much, people who meet me first time during that phase, call me by that name. Then I make a new character of same class and any new friends use that name.. confusing, hella confusing.
Even same class characters but different characters, tend to have different characteristics, ie, my tiny asura ele is all flirty and always trolling around (married half the server by now that little gold digger), while my human male ele is a moron. If I duel someone with my girl thief I’ll lose more often than if I play my male thief.
I tend to copy looks of characters of same class across my alt accounts, few times I met my friends or wvw foes who were just confused who this twin of someone they know is.
All my lvl 80 eles have all dungeon stories (yes, including the arah borefest).
Due to some recent events irl, I decided to spend less time playing gw2 and I already got called anti-social by my guildies :/ Anyway, I used to enjoy the low lvl part of leveling before Anet kitten up the game so I don’t create new alts as often now.
I got 31 × 80s (of which 8 eles and 9 thieves, my most fav classes), 10 low lvls and 0 gf.
Go figure :/
Once you an 80 in each profession, it’s time to lay off the bottle. No need to make a 9th until the Rev drops, and we will be able to insta-level those, so no problem.

That’s what Charr say about humans. Unless you know what to look for, you would assume that humans do not have the concept of gender.
ANet may give it to you.

Lol this made me feel better about my 20 characters. Aside from the ease of build switching I just find it so much more fun to be able to come up with new looks and back stories for them which tends to reflect in how I play on them. Like how my charr engi will just put burn on your down body and leave you to sizzle while he walks away, how my MM necro asura just watched while the minions tore into that poor downed thief last night, or even how my asura heal ele bounces around the field, refusing to die. Just so fun <3
