I have never put offensive infusions on my characters, but with raids in mind I wanted to do it. Out of six trinkets (backpiece, 2 accessories, 2 rings, 1 amulet), only two have an offensive infusion slot.

The only way I see that I can add malign infusions to the other four pieces is to mystic forge Versatile Malign Infusion. This costs about 120 gold each. Is there an alternative that I’m not seeing?

Since people have already shown that you can complete the current raid wing in exotics, I don’t see the value in spending 120 gold for a small improvement…unless, of course, you have 6,000 gold and no interest in anything you can get on the TP or gem shop.

The question is if an alternative to 120 gold per exists… asked because I have never looked into these infusions before and it’s quite possible that I am just not aware of all options or new options exist that aren’t on the wiki yet.

The reason is that my account is in excess and so I continue looking for ways to improve my characters. Infusions looked like a good idea, and I’ve always seen them listed on every single metabattle build. So I did the math and sat there wondering “do these people really spend 500 gold outfitting every character with infusions?” And before you say it, I do realize metabattle builds are there to be best-case-scenario.

Anyway, I’m going to assume there is no alternative (well I did find one, the ghostly infusion that drops from raids for 600 gold each) and consider the question answered.

I didn’t realize from your original wording that you just want to have them regardless of price and were hoping to save some coin, if possible. I simply think of not buying them as a cheaper and reasonable alternative, which is why I offered the idea.

There is a WvW infusion that is so cheap it’s almost literally free, if you’re just looking for the extra +5 power/condi/whatever. Head to your borderland and check in with the laurel merchant. 5 laurels and 125 badges of honor.

No there is no alternative for versatile infusion with stats. You can only take 6 WvW infusion for weapons and 4 out of 6 trinkets, then you will need 8 × 120 gold versatile infusion. Tbh 960 gold for 40 stats is a bit excessive if you ask me, but whatever float your boat. Just keep in mind that you can’t get +7AR +5stats so you won’t be able to use that gear in fractal except if you take like 5 x +16AR which is very expensive or you just gear up in AR for lower fractal.
