Am I doing something wrong? (And my opinion)
Are the fruits of your money making labour gear? If that’s so, you’re probably doing something wrong. Yes, you can make gear at 80 and it will be at the same level as any other level 80 piece, however I think the primary method of obtaining gear is through explorable mode dungeons, and karma.
There are vendors within Cursed Shore/Malchor’s/Straits that sell pieces of gear for a hefty karma fee, as well as the vendors in LA that sell armour for, again, a large sum of tokens. The gear you would really only need to buy things for is a legendary, which in and of itself is a journey…
Not to mention PvP gear.
P.S. That person isn’t 13% stronger than you, his stats = your stats, they are just allotted differently, i.e. 400precision/400 power can also be 200prec/600pow; both configs have 800 stats. The system is best explained by just looking at the PvP armour vendors in HotM.

I didn’t word the 13% properly, what I meant by that is a fully equipped exotic player is 13% stronger than a fully equipped rare player. Also, there was a reason I didn’t mention Legendaries, since they do take a lot of work and some players want some extra gratification for it besides their unique looks; the stats on legendaries hardly require considering since it is an extremely minor increase in stats.
The sets for karma are more like 15k sets and require a lot of grind to put together if you want it as soon as possible. Dungeon set token requirements are… staggering and never falls into my consideration at any point due to the sheer amount of time and effort required. This leaves us, yet again, to crafting.
My friends and I have been running the Magg explorable route in Citadel of Fire repeatedly for some easy gold and mats. With a group of competent players that know how the dungeon works, a run can take anywhere from roughly 20 to 30 minutes depending on damage output and individual survival skills. Completing the dungeon nets you 25 silver, 20 tokens (30 for the first run of the day), plus whatever loot you receive from enemies or chests. I usually make a profit of about 45 silver per run, which is nearly the same as what you’re currently making through selling materials.
I assume the ore you’re selling is mostly Mithril in bulk. Have you thought about using the Mystic Forge to transmute a stack of 250 Mithril Ore into a random amount of Orichalcum Ore? I admit it may be a bit of a gamble, but you can make a much larger profit if luck happens to be on your side.

Indeed it is Mithril in bulk. I’ve thought about transmutation from time to time since, when exotics and rare were being for extra low, I bought them and salvaged them back for ectos for crafting and selling. Now though, the market has matured so I don’t have a good money profiting method as of this moment.
I’ll try transmutation some time soon hopefully, I need the Orichalcum either way. If luck happens to be on my side, I’ll try record the percentage rate for net profit. I got couple of mates who will pretty much be down with doing CoF tonight so I’ll try that too. Thanks for the tips.
