I wrote before to say that I’d created an Asura Engineer and was having trouble. It was suggested that I try creating a Human character instead – I did so and really, it is a lot more easy and enjoyable playing one of those. I’m saving the Asura Engineer until I know and understand the game better.

What I’m wondering is this…….. I understand that one of your own characters can’t mail items to another of yours. So, if the one you’re playing loots or buys something that he/she can’t use and is really good for another character of yours, is there any way you can get it to him/her? Assuming it’s not soulbound, that is. I think, ankitten ot sure, that if you put it in the bank, then your other character has access to it. Is this right? Or do you have to mail it to a character on another account and then have that person mail it in turn to your character?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can put it in the bank. All characters of your account have access there.

The difference between humans and asura is the size. As a small fighter you haveless overview in a battle and its easier for your screen to fill up with the fight. The small size however is an advantage in small confined space like e.g. jumpingpuzzles or when doing vista’s. So I wouldnt call it easier on a human, but different :P

For the rest: yip, you got a bank where you can story items. (keep in mind if an item says soulbound you can store it there, but another character can’t take it out).

You can find banks in all city’s near the tradepost (Rata sum: center of the middle level, divinity’s reach, upper Dwayna road).

You can also access your bank from ANY crafting station

Thanks very much for all the help. I’ve not given up on the little Asura and like the Engineer thing, too, but will give that one a bit of a rest until (as I said) I’m a little more familiar with the whole game and whatnot. I’ve been playing WoW for several years and need to adjust my mindset, I think.

Glad to know about the bank thing. It seems simpler, really, than mailing things to your own characters.

Also, don’t forget World vs World. Connecting to World vs World (key ‘B’ by default) for the Borderland of your world will spawn you in a citadel with easy access to banks in the form of crafting stations outside (east of) the citadel, a trading post, and merchants.

Then simply log out to character screen and log back in to be teleported back to where you were before you went to World vs World.

I would not recommend this. Yes it is convinient, but you are not doing your world any favor.

The amount of players in the map can influence the ‘outmanned’ bonus. Removing that bonus while you are not doing anything. You alone is not a huge difference, but if everyone would do this the map would be filled with not fighting people.

Please only enter World versus World if you plan to fight or want to spend badges of honour.

^^ This really depends on your server and time-of-day.

If your server is not suffering from queues in WvW it really isn’t a problem. Basically, if you don’t get queued to enter, it’s probably OK.

Anyway, you’ll only be there for a couple of minutes, unlike the guild groups that spend hours standing around the spawn points waiting for the rest of their force to turn up.

OTOH. You’ll be missing a fun part of the game if you don’t at least take a look at WvW. Hint: Follow the blue dorito.

Not sure if I’ll try the WvW or not at this time. Right now, I’m exploring and learning the mechanics of the game as much as anything. I’m having some difficulty getting into the trade area in Divinity’s Reach, but maybe it’s just that I’m on the wrong level or something. Real life intervened yesterday so I had to leave the game without finding it. Interesting to see that the amount of ingame gold is seemingly for the whole account, so that all characters have access to it. I think that’s great – no more mailing funds off to alts. I like the game, though, and will certainly continue. I’m sure it’ll all be a little less confusing once I get the hang of it and stop trying to approach it in my accustomed ‘WoW’ way.

Oh, Engineer can be a tricky one to take on right out of the box. I did the same thing and had to shelve her for a bit before I could wrap my head around things a bit better.

Using the crafting stations in WvW is generally frowned upon (admittedly, I’ve totally done this…more than once.) If you haven’t opened up the Lion’s Arch (LA) map yet, you can very easily access it by entering WvW and using the LA portal at each spawn point. Bank and crafting stations are easily accessed there, and a lot of times players will drop buffs at the bank (such as a heroes banner), so you can get free xp buffs by going there

I believe the trade area you are talking about is the one you need to buy access to with gems. It is a convenience that is not really high on my priority list but others find it great. You do not need to enter it to map the area. The crafting area that is free is on the south side of the city below the inner ring.
