Anyone know of prebuilt PC's for GW2?
Hi there,
When I upgraded my PC a few years ago i used amazon, you can get some good ready build Pc’s that have a decent spec for around £400-£600 (British sterling) this will be around $600-$800 (You can get as low as £250 -$450 when a sale is on) . Mine came with the operation system installed and was ready to play on day of arrival. The link below is to the uk version of amazon that has a few models on sale that will suit Guild wars 2. This will not come with a monitor, mouse, keyboard or speakers. But if you shop around you will be able to pick these up cheap (they will all be plug and play so limited installation required)
EDIT: Not saying that my PC is the best choice, or even a required choice, but its been in service for 3 years and has not let me down yet
EDIT 2: I took the liberty of selecting the Quad Core, Nvidia and 1TB (Terabyte https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terabyte ) hard drive features as “required” in my filter for your selection, again these are not a requirement but are my personal preference.

Are you in the USA?
I assume you are, since you put the price in dollars and didn’t specify a currency, but this is fairly important as a lot of places you can order PC’s are either country specific or have much higher delivery fees for international delivery.

Yes I’m in the USA I have looked on amazon and to be honest I can’t tell if something is nicer or not. I know how to tell how big a hard drive is, and know I would like one having 1-2 gigs… Believe that’s the right saying lol.
Thanks to everyone taking time for help BTW!

I think you mean 1-2 Terabytes. A 1-2 gig hard drive isn’t even enough to load the operating system :P
I’ve been looking at this system:

But this might fit your needs a little better especially if you are adamant about your budget:

They are basically the same, but the first one has a better processor and twice the RAM. But the second one should do exactly what you need it to do and more.

Granted I had my techie husband for advice, but I built my current computer with CyberPower and have been very happy. I was able to pick out a case and fill it with good quality innards including sealed liquid cooling, a good size SSD and a humongous regular hard drive, and a video card that is still highly competitive over a year later. I did spend a bit more than you are wanting to, but if you don’t go for liquid cooling and an SSD I bet you can get a rig you’ll like that will run GW2 on best graphics and have room for plenty more games.
CyberPower isn’t the only place to look. In another thread in this subforum I recommended them to someone looking for a laptop and another poster listed another site that might be better. I don’t know, I went to CyberPower based on a techie friend’s advice and was so pleased with them I intend to stick with them.
(They did make one error in my machine, they left a thin paper disk inside the liquid cooler’s fan, completely inaccessible other than tweezing through the grill, and for a good while it made a horrid buzzing as the fan blades hit it. Otherwise, it’s been perfect).

That’d be me. I’ve just heard quite a few bad things about Cyberpower’s (and iBuyPower’s) custom PCs over the years, so I tend to suggest ecollegePC instead. They may be fine now- I haven’t heard anything in a while- but meh.
I’d really suggest building your own PC OP, you can do quite a bit for $1000 if you already have peripherals; it really is just plugging stuff into the right slot and then plugging in the power to it.
If you want to go for a prebuilt still, go to ecollegePC>Intel Based Custom Builder at the top left>i5/i7 based and switch the options:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k ($204)
Heatsink/Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Fan/Heatsink ($35)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC Mate ($44)
Memory: 8 GB (4 GBx2) DDR3 1600 MHz ($62)
Hard Drive: 1 TB Western Digital Black ($81)*
Power Supply: 780Watt EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B ($45)
Case: Corsair Black Carbide Series 200R ($39)
For the GPU, you should buy an R9 290 ($240-250, at most, new, you should be able to get one on sale for like $220 or something, or a used 290x for $230-240) and install it yourself; this is legitimately incredibly easy. Even if you have little faith in yourself, watch a couple of YT videos, be careful, and you’ll be fine.
For the OS, get a copy of windows from /r/microsoftsoftwareswap and install it yourself; you can get a Windows 7/8 iso from Microsoft’s site for free, then use universal USB installer to set up a flash drive and install from that.
*WD Caviar blues are slow, correct? Someone help me here, I don’t have time to look it up, but I feel like they’re supposed to be media drives or something
This should all come out to be ~$1000. If you need to go cheaper, drop the GPU to a 280/280x (if you don’t mind buying one of these used, you should be able to get a 280x for like $130-135 shipped; I got mine for $120 shipped), which will save enough to work it out.
Then, save your money for a decent monitor+mechanical keyboard and you should be good to go for a few years.
