Just curious how its handling GW2, as i “think” i might install it anytime soon

Just the same as Win 7. I have Win 8 on my laptop and the game runs just the same it did before.

Runs great.

On a related note, if you still play TSW and enjoy how the DX11 mode looks and have an nVidia card, do NOT upgrade to Windows 8.

Proudly (?) demoted to DX9 over there, and while I still find the game fun, I’m mostly not playing out of protest.

On my computer, I noticed a bit of a speed increase with GW2 once I upgraded to Windows 8. I would never go back to 7 – I have yet to find a way that Windows 7 is superior to 8.

I don’t like the interface either. And XP was great. Unfortunately I was cursed with Vista. Over that Win 8 is a huge improvement. I’m not upgrading the Win 7 machines though.

W7 64bit is better than W8 imo. W8 still has some compatability issues floating around with games, programs, and drivers. Not to mention the ‘mobile’ UI sucks. There have been benchtests testing performance in games and there has been little to no imporvment, in some casses performanced droped a tad .in some casses it increased a tad. .overall .its the same.

Ill be sticking with W7, i hear the next Windows (9?) will have the same W8 UI ..so ill likely be skiping that also ..eventually Microsoft will take a hint and stop this Mobile interface BS lol…just gunna take some years.

Probably, but only because of the people that are hating the system without even trying it. We live in hive-mind like internet society and that is a sad and bad thing. It’s not a bad system. Most features that people are complaining about can be turned off and you can get the Windows 7 look.

And the game works fine on Windows 8, without any problems.

You do not get better preformance on 8 over 7 all in all, sure somethings are better some are not as good so its all around the same really. Yeah in this modern day where some people find it impossible to put down their phones ( like some kid who cant put his first nuddy mag down ) down it seems you must have that awefull Ui on your pc now. Ill stick to 7 now until they go back to an interface thats not dumb. All that jazz is made up of is shortcuts effectivly to parts of the system have we not had this for years already but done by yourself in a much better manner.

Most mobiles these days are pathetic in the interface dept, windows phone being one of them. Of course thats just me cause i am over 24 years old so i see functionality differently maybe.

I had loads of issues running windows 7 32 bit (shouldve installed a 64 bit in the first place but oh well). Now i have windows 8 64 and no issues whatsoever. Running smooth here.

Nobody is forcing you or anyone to upgrade. But some people are buying new computers with pre-installed Windows 8 and as far as i know there is no downgrade option. But i agree with you on the Windows and new devices/phones UI and functionality. Things are getting dumbed down in a very bad and blunt way.

I play it on Windows 8 64bit. No issues here.

Just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro from the W8 Beta preview after it started getting angry that I hadn’t upgraded and would restart my PC every 2 hours until I did, goes just as well as it did before!
