I haven’t had a gift in a while, just wondering if anyone could clarify this for me

Characters get birthday gifts every time they age a year.

Each character gets one too, right? Up to a max of 5 a year (no bought slots)

Yes. Keep in mind that deleted characters obviously won’t get birthday gifts if you deleted them before they go to that point. Also, you can check each character’s age by typing /age into the in-game chat.

No account b-day gifts.
Only character b-day gifts.

Sadly character only. I’ve been playing sense beta and early access and none of my characters are even one years old right now =/

Since I knew that such mechanic would exist, even though ANet denied in the beginning I created most of my toons in the first month of the game and 3 of them in the 1st day.

But yeah, the gifts are based on character age, not account.
