I’ve been avoiding armor that already has upgrade information in the slot where normally unused upgrade slot would be. Now it seem the only armor in the TP that I see as a “real” upgrade would be those pieces of armor.

My question is how do I activate the stat bonus on those.

ie; “+1% damage to foes below 50%”
“+6 precision”

They are already activated.

Think of these as of “slots” in the piece of armor. You put a Rune (check for Runes in the TP too) or Medallion and the Rune/Medallion bonus (such as + Power/Precision) will appear in the armor.

It’s like an enchantment to upgrade armor.
Also, you can replace existing runes for others (though the equipped rune will be destroyed for the new one). The only way to remove a Rune from an equip is to Salvage it, check the % chance of recovering upgrades in the Salvage Kits.

You equip it, and those upgrades can be replaced like any standard upgrade.

But how do I get those upgrades to be activated if I like those better?
