I have a interesting question. According to my Achievements, I’m missing one place to discover in Ascalon. However, I’ve 100% completed all areas. I did double check that as well. Not certain what I’m missing. Is this a bug or is there something I’m really missing that is often overlooked?

It’s no bug, you probably are missing some sort of cavern or so (where there is no POI or vista). You could check the webz for a fully explored map of Ascalon and overlay it with your GW2 map to see what you’ll be missing..

Been too long since I map/explorer completed, so can only give you this generic advice

Some maps have areas, often off to one side, with no hearts, vistas, points of interest or skill points, which means you can get the map completion reward without actually uncovering all the areas on the map.

As Tribio said you can look online for complete maps and check it against your own. Or you can also take advantage of the fact that most maps are rectangular and look for any uneven patches along the edge.

Use http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_completion and click on the Ascalonian zones; in each zone page there is a zone map at the upper right with the “white name” areas shown with borders. Compare that to your in game map to see if you have the white name. If not, that’s your culprit.

It’s much easier to do this with a second monitor, or perhaps via tablet viewing, so you can see both maps at once.

You need to go to the EXPLORABLE ZONES page on the wiki and open each map for Ascalon and look where the white text areas are and then compare them to YOUR map.

Somewhere on your map you will NOT have a white text that are on the Wiki maps.
