Guild Wars 2

I just received mail informing me of the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon, showing me where it was. I’m lvl 28 and I understood that dungeons aren’t available until lvl 30, so why would this pop up now? Can anyone tell me what am I supposed to do? I tried to ask in-game but no one answered me.

I think it’s triggered by how far you get in the personal story? You don’t do anything, wait till you’re 30.

Everytime you reach the level for a dungeon, you get the mail telling you that the content exists and you should be able to do it.

Unfortunately, most groups that run the dungeon ask you to be 80.
You need a 5 man team (technically – and for gated stuff like CoF p1)

I wouldn’t worry about the mail you got and continue playing. Have fun exploring and leveling (and maybe finishing your character’s story)

If you do want to do one of the dungeons (be sure to be the appropriate level), carefully read the lfg descriptions. Every now and then I find a friendly group. Avoid things like “speed run” “exp only” or “80 only”. Explain at the beginning that you are new and ask for instructions when you need them. Otherwise, have fun.

If you want to run dungeons and play other content with friends, join a guild. There is alot of friendly guilds welcoming new members helping them. That will boost your gaming experience immensely.

Also, being the party creator when using the lfg too lets you set the mood you want for your run

You probably got the mail because you advanced your Personal Story to the point in Lion’s Arch where Destiny’s Edge meets up. At that point, the story splits off into two different paths. The main path is your continuing Personal Story, which you advance as normal via your solo instances. The secondary path follows Destiny’s Edge through the game’s dungeons in their Story Modes, showing what your racial mentor and his/her former allies are up to.

Both stories will merge back together at the very end.
