I’m nearing 500 Armoursmith to start on my very first ascended set, question is the stuff you can only craft once per day, is that avoidable by buying the finished mats or do I just need to start crafting those mats ahead of time

You can avoid almost all time gates by skipping the steps that contain them and buy finished pieces. But the more you skip the more the price increases, and if you do it for a full set the increased cost will be rather substantial(several hundred gold).

I’d just start making the daily cooldown item as soon as you can, so you can be saving it up.

If you have a trusted guildies/friends in-game, you could “buy” their daily cooldown from them by giving them the mats required to make the material you need. For example for buying their cooldown for deldrimor steel ingots: you’d send them 50 mithril ingots, 1 ecto, and 10 thermocatalytic reagents (for the account bound daily crafted item); and you’d send 20 iron ingots, 10 steel ingots, and 20 darksteel ingots for them to make the deldrimor steel ingot. Then they send the deldrimor steel ingot to you.

What I do is I’ll loan the ascended, refined mat(s) to my guildie when they need them and the guildie will replace them over time. (I’m not really interested in mithril and gold.)

If you got the mats you can also ask friends to craft the daily stuff

Look at a site like the wiki (use the calc. base ingredients feature) to find out what the base cost is for the mats, assuming buy orders placed on all. Again, you can also calculate by hand but it takes a lot longer. Sites like gw2spidy are not reliable to calc. the crafting cost anymore cos their mats are outdated, be warned.

I would recommend just getting em from tp, it’s not overly cheaper to craft them urself. Besides for some mats, like Spiritwood planks, as I calc. a few days ago it’s about the same price to just buy from the tp, if not cheaper. With anything else you are saving about 1-2g per each if u craft them yourself.

Again let’s be serious, that’s hardly even amounts to more then 10g lost in worst case scenarios. Ideally u can try to craft if u wanna save a gold coin each day, otherwise who cares abt it

You can save a little bit of coin usually by crafting items like damask or deldrimor but you can bypass the time gate crafting ascended mats by buying them.

To see how much you might be saving you can use the crafting calculator at GW2 Efficiency .
