I believe that the ascended armor only has defensive slots, while weapons have offensive. Not sure about accessories. I think it depends on which one.

You can put defensive infusions on the armor, for offensive infusions you would need ascended weapons.

the versatile infusion would go in the armor.
Simple one has +5 ar for 75 relics from the vendor in the fotm hub.
You can also get versatile stat infuions via the forge.
WvW infusions you are stuck to defensive/offensive.
