I have 1 day left on the first collection (stupid books), and I have looked at the other 3 collections on wiki but it’s an enormous amount of links. I am wondering if anyone made it and has a “oh you need to get started on this” kind of story.
I have kitten tons of money and mats so I’m not worried about that, but I guess mostly if I missed a time-gated collection like the books from astralia I.
You could start crafting the massive amount of ascended mats you’re going to need. The crafting portion of Tier 1 requires 10 elonian leather squares, 10 spiritwood planks, and 15 deldrimor steel ingots. You’ll later need more deldrimor steel, as well. The collection parts won’t let you do them until you’re on the correct tier, anyway.
Like said, just keep making your daily ascended maps. Also make sure you have enough gold for the 250 amalgamated gem stones (approxx 600-800g)
Also you should start getting your daily blooming passifloria (3 per day). I think you need 15-25ish? Since they’re around 65s each. If your looking to save some gold.

Well the OP mentioned having tons of money so that shouldn’t be an issue although “tons” varies from person to person. Each of the HoT legendaries currently cost slightly above 3100g, less if using buy orders.
There are some things you might consider annoying but there aren’t any other time gates. That aside there aren’t anything you can really get out of the way ahead of time anyway since they won’t count until you have the collection unlocked.
The item from the gate of arah priest should be obtainable from the defense event as well. It can still be a long wait but at least it doesn’t require a failed event.
If you are going to buy your way through the collections the flowers are less of a concern than the geodes and maybe obsidian shards. The flowers can be bought but the geodes and obsidian are account bound or obtained with account bound currency. You’ll also need to need bandit crests.
Depending on how long you think it will take you to get around to it and how much WvW you play, you might want to buy the Gift of Battle now rather than later. Once the WvW reward track system transition out of the beta stage it will no longer be possible to simply buy the Gift of Battle. You will have to complete a WvW reward track for it instead.
I think I have an utterly obscene amount of crests, shards, and I know I have something like 15k WvW badges. But you bring up a good point, I’ll take a look at some of these currencies and see what I’m lacking. I think I may be short on geodes since I believe I had been deleting them and haven’t really played drytop since the wallet (question mark? I’m going to kick myself if I’m short on those.) It should be a little more manageable now that I’ve finished the book collection and can see my actual goals in-game instead of on a few dozen different webpages.
