Auto attack doesn't seem to work
what is the skill and profession? and honestly i don’t use auto attack because confusion has killed me to may times. and sometimes if you dodge it will stop auto attack and so will weapon swapping.
It’s pretty much every class I’ve tried, once the angle becomes wide enough auto attack ceases and you have to re align, like face them straight on to get it to initiate again.
I think I’m just bad at this strafing and fighting at the same time
Auto attack will stop if your out of range, and start again as soon as your back in range.
I understand moving out of range but when I move back in range i have to manually start auto attacking again
When you strafe, your character is essentially facing where your camera is facing. When your enemy reaches a certain angle off that direction your character stops auto-attacking because the enemy is effectively beside/behind you and therefore outside of the attack’s range. This stopping generally happens more in melee since an enemy moving one foot can be the equivalent of moving from in front of you to behind you. When you resume facing the enemy, it should restart auto-attacking. It behaves the same as when you move from out of range to being in range.
There are some settings like where it will stop auto-attacking on target change (includes de-selecting a target), which may be messing with you. Double check those settings.

happens to me too. i notice when im going through the weapon skills like 2 3 and 4 and stop for them to cool down ill notice my guy just stops attacking.
basically auto-attack sucks. When you think you are attacking something it goes & attacks another npc way behind which isn’t even involved in the fight. It should attack the nearest aggroed npc not something grazing in the distance. It’s like a lot of things in games…. totally illogical.
- Be sure you have any skillslot marked as auto-attack (Ctrl + RMB)
- Be sure you are in range (red bar beneath the AA skill slot)
- Be sure your character (not camera) is facing at least on the right side towards the target
- Sometimes other abilities cancel autoattack
I agree the auto-targetting is kinda messed up at times. I used to have a serious issue where if there was a group of monsters I would constantly lose targetting until I changed some settings around. Idk if this will help at all with your situation but try this out.
