I have have downloaded about 4GBs of the game files and i can see that the files remaining are getting lower also i have stopped the download few times but when i see the size of the game folder i found it only 741MBs and i don’t know if there is anything wrong with my Launcher

Keep in mind that the bar is NOT showing you percentage of total you needed to download, but only the total remaining. If downloaded half and got stopped , when you start it again the bar will be empty again, but you will only download the remaining files.

There is likely nothing wrong, but the GW2.DAT file is nearing 21GB in size now, so you have quite a ways to go still…..don’t get discouraged and welcome to the game!

i know that the bar is not showing the percentage of total download my only problem is that the game folder is not getting bigger although i can see the Launcher downloading :\

I wouldn’t worry about what the Windows folder size is telling you. Windows explorer does some funky things while a file is opened (being downloaded to).

If you look in the actual Guild Wars 2 folder, do you see the GW2.DAT file?

Yes i can see it and it’s only 680MBs and have downloaded about 4GBs

I still think you are stressing over nothing, but open a ticket with support if you want….

That’s standard. Windows won’t update the file size while it’s open. Just be patient.

Also the bar is % of files, not total size of the download. There are a few very, very, large files that seem to take forever to download and the bar does not move very much when they are finished downloading.

Mine is still ongoing. DAT file is just under 2GB.

However, I’m only able to download at work, and only for a couple of hours in the morning before my coworkers show up and start complaining the someone is taking up all the bandwidth.

I would download at home, but gosh, this is an…impressive download and I don’t think my room mate would appreciate me using it all up (it’s his internet).

I actually do have a couple of portable drives that can hold that DAT file with plenty of room to spare.

i have a bad internet connection (70KB/s) and i can’t change it until October so it’s going take about 2 weeks to finish downloading

You can pause the entire download and keep your place but you can’t skip individual files. They announced that in the future that the game updater will stream content so you can start playing faster but currently you need the whole game to play.

Now you can download on any PC, if you are allowed too, and simply copy the game’s directory to a LARGE USB stick and take that home and copy it to your PC. The game can be installed on as many machines as you want, it’s just you can only play on one at a time. You paid for the account, not a copy of the game.

I meant if there is one file that is 1GB can i download 600MBs of it than pause the download and finish downloading that file later ?

Don’t know since we don’t see the completion on a per file basis. We don’t even know their sizes except by judging how fast the files left number decreases and our download speed.
