I used to run Balthazar quite a bit, and I had a pretty good handle on things. Then I took a Balthazar break for a few weeks. Sometime between my last Balthazar run and yesterday, there has been some updates to the Risen. It seems that the two Veterans that usually spawn with each wave of Risen now have the ability to cover the land with an abundance of high damage wells. This makes getting those paper-mache NPCs quite difficult to keep standing without a sizable zerg. The Nobles are manageable because they can only create their AOEs at their own feet. These updated Veterans can cast multiple wells all around where they please. Ouch.

That being said, I’m looking for any tips for completing Balthazar with “smaller” groups. Can we manipulate where the wells are cast? Can we prevent them from casting them?

Make sure you understand the triggerpoints for these vets to spawn. That way you can trigger them without letting them hit the pact. Most of the times, the main team should be ahead off the pact, with a small amount of people at the pact themselfes. There is one point a vet spawns behind them, make sure you got the teams split at the spawning points for that one. The vets will go for the biggest mass of foes (so players and pact members). So players taking the damage for the pact is the trick.

As I have said before, everybody has a different idea of how it should be done, all ideas are difficult to implement with a random group of players of various professions with their own idea for a successful run.
