I find myself overwhelmed with the staggering amount of Bandit Crests needed for the boots. I have finally managed to buy the inscriptions and insignias, so now I can concentrate on the boots.

I spent two whole cycles tonight in Silverwastes and ended up with 111 more badges than I had before I started. I did have a few more, but had to get the extraction device. Others are saying they get a couple of hundred crests and hour, so I must be doing something very wrong defending the fortress attack after attack and sometimes failing for the sheer lack of people.

Help me, please. I really do want to carapace armor.

They usually cycle between two forts doing defend events and escorts. There are ways to increase the output but it’s frowned upon by some players. Getting 111 from two complete cycles is on the low end.

I got two boots from the bandit chests and one from the nightmare chest. I would personally hold out on buying anything from vendors until the next episode.

I don’t really have much luck with chests and such. It is possible, but so is winning the lottery. I cannot count on that. As for buying before the next update, I am very unlikely to have enough crests before that anyway. I do see your point, new ways to acquire them might appear.

For now I am also rather tied to Amber Sands. I am still stalking the Executioner. I saw it yesterday for the first time ever, but since I was the only one there, the fight did not end well for me. The help came too late too, new attack started and the big troll just poofed.

It wasn’t so much about new ways but getting the chests after you had already bought them. A lot of people have ran into this issue and there’s no way to exchange them for crests. I found it best to wait until the last update and then buy everything you need after you’re done farming. This way you won’t waste crests.

When I farmed, I would alternate between red rock and indigo since they were very close to each other.

For the executioner, you could trying posting a LFG and checking on there. People have found success that way.

I’ve been hoarding crests for the boots as well, and my advice is to make sure you go maybe between red and indigo, and as another poster said, at least get some hits on dolyak escorts, and hits on both fortress defend events. My crests are ticking up pretty fast that way. If you just stay at one fortress, yes, it will take too long. Also make sure you kill additional mordrem when they pop nearby on the map as “events”. In a few hours I’m only about 25 crests away from the boots, and that’s including using some for keys and some for extractors (the one that costs 12 crests). Also do the nightmare chest.

Thus might be “pinching pennies” but if you have any level 80s that haven’t been to that map yet, run them there to get a free account bound extractor. I got 8 extra ones doing that, which meant I didn’t have to buy them (96 bandit crests iirc on the price).

The rewards given out for the Fort defense events improve the more Forts the Pact has under their control (the level of the Fort may also improve rewards, but I’m not sure about this). As such, if you need Crests, the best thing to do is find an organised map (just taxi into one that’s above 50% if you can’t find one), then pick a Fort and defend it, escort Caravans if they’re close, kill the Mordrem, and then briefly sojourn over to the next closest Fort to tag its defense event while yours is quiet (but make sure you head back soon because you don’t want to leave any Forts undefended). Because the events pop every 5 mins, in a properly organised map, you can earn 25 – 50 Bandit Crests every 10 mins.

Afterwards, do the Breach (for another ~10 Badges, plus a big bonus if all 5 are killed), then do all 3 Tiers of the Labyrinth for another ~50 Badges. All up, in a good, organised map you can easily earn more than 300 Badges every Breach cycle.
