How do I figure out if a new weapon is an upgrade when it has more base damage, but lacks (some) stats?

For example:
– old weapon: 341 – 384; +47 power; +33 precision
– new weapon: 412 – 464; +44 precision; +62 condition damage

Although I’m not depending heavily on condition damage, my gut feeling still tells me the new weapon is an upgrade, because I don’t see 47 power being equal to the 70 – 80 extra base damage that the new weapon has. However, there are cases in which it might be less obvious.

How would I determine, or guestimate with greater precision (no pun intended), which weapon would benefit me the most?

Edit: corrected typo

From my previous experience with mmo’s higher base damage is a bigger improvement than stats, but honestly I don’t know if this applies to GW2. In every other game I have played it has been true though.

this is my personal opinion but it seems as if at lower level stats don’t really effect your damage output all that much, so i’d go with the higher dps weapon

The damage formula is currently weapon damage * power * skill modifier / target defense, so it’s not that easy to tell as it depends on the power you have without the weapon. You need to check what weapon has the largest damage * total power.
