Being Excellent to Each Other - A How To
Things that all GW2 players seem to do instinctively already.
^ Well most anyway! lol
That’s been my experience thus far as well, save for some Barrens chat.

I strongly encourage you to report any offensive or abusive chat in the game. Customer Support will investigate and take action on people who do not abide by the Rules of Conduct.

Most do these things but there have been several cases of those who don’t that I’d thought I’d mention it. >;+)
Especially important with big bad boss fights. I mean it really benefits you to be helpful, like reviving, a thing GW2 has done right!

I’m sorry Zason, but Abraham Lincoln didn’t say that. It was George Carlin.
Answering questions is really important; maybe more than rezzing. Just keep an eye on the map chat and help a few people out. It’s the right thing to do.
I’ll be honest, I very seldom report people speaking in chat, because I really don’t want to see anyone lose their account, or even get a 3 day time out; and I never do it from an overflow simply because I know different servers develop different social mores — people who play on the 4-Chan server are not going to have the same chat protocols as people who play on the official RP server. But, Sorrows Furnace is my home and I don’t want the truly offensive people in my home, so I do report from there. Just something to think about.
Sorrows Furnace

Incorrect, at least the first sentence. I honestly can’t recall if Rufus said it or not, but Abe Lincoln DEFINITELY did. :P

I have map chat hiding in its own tab and I only look at it when all my friends are offline. It’s absolutely awful at all times. I don’t report chat, not because I feel bad about it (?!?) like you, but because it’s useless. GM’s never do anything about it (least of all notify you when they’ve taken action) so it’s easier just to block them. That’s what it’s there for after all.
I really enjoy how people work together anywhere at anytime in PvE.
I have noticed occasionally that someone will run to a different mob rather than helping me kill something, either instinctively from other MMO experiences, or they just don’t know any better.
I’ve even seen people run up to a harvesting node at the same time, and then turn around and run off because they think I “tagged” it already. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.
They’ll figure it out eventually.

I remember it as Lincoln saying it right before the closing credits, no?

I’m pretty sure GM’s can’t notify anyone regarding another account. I also don’t think it’s fair to assume they don’t do anything about it, it just may not be immediate because, well, that’s probably not practical.
Its everyone’s social obligation to act on improprieties against TOS/Code of Conduct and community standards with the goal of first, correcting the member’s behaviour and keeping them in the community and lastly, removing them if they are intent on being disruptive. You’re doing them and everyone else a favour, especially if you happen to help keep a small problem from becoming a big one (and they tend to do that).
Grace…peace…mercy…profit!

I am eternally thankful to the people who have pointed me at start points for POIs and Vistas.
And I’ve been reporting- I may not see the end result, but the more people that do, the less often we have to.
