Best Community Of Any Game I Have Played!
Yep, there’s some very helpful people flitting around. You’ll get the occasional jerk but you see that anywhere, very easy to ignore.
The punks will filter into it slowly but I think the type of people who play this game are committed to it and really enjoy it, not just play it because they want big items or a sense of accomplishment – They genuinely enjoy playing the game.
Ain’t it just! Having a fantastic time helping others and such.
May I interest you in OPERATION: UNION? Click the little link in my sig if you’re interested. The goal is to create a more interlinked community between all servers.
Happy GW2ing.

Why thank you The fact that people being helpful encourages people to be helpful is the best part!
Oh yea. Remember TwiliteGarden lend a hand to others!
That goes to all others too!
@Curuniel has a little knock on effect that’s pretty cool ain’t it?
Spread the nerd folks.

I see exactly 0 people talking about anything anywhere on a server listed as full.
That’s a pity Shooopa. It really depends on where you are and when, I’ll admit map chatter has lessened of late but if someone says something, I often find three or four people will chip in and suddenly you’ve got a map-wide conversation. Don’t be afraid to make a comment.
Agreed. It’s got a great community, just like the first one had. Always the random jerk here and there in any game, but the GW series always has a lot of great people playing!
Old hand at korean knockoffs MMO here. Chat aside, biggest contributor I’d say is the mob mechanics and player interaction change. In previous MMOs everyone camped spawns and god help you if you happened to walk by and hit it first if there was already a bunch of people standing around waiting for it. You could also randomly gank other players whenever you felt like it, depending on the server.
Many players just want to mind their own business. The fact that in this game you help out instead of kill steal turns other players from potential competitors into collaborators. You WANT other people to show up, because they represent additional help against mobs – and guaranteed you won’t suddenly find yourself dead with 3 griefers standing around your corpse and laughing at you in some foreign language.
This means for the majority of folk who just play and don’t socialize, random people showing up is a good thing, when in previous MMOs it was almost always a bad thing.

Tried that. An hour later and the chatbox still has only my comment in it.
There is no community here. I’m playing a single-player RPG advertised as a MMO.
Honestly, if you want conversation to happen, sometimes you’re going to have to initiate it.
I see literally DOZENS of people running around at any minor event, people roleplaying in the city, in the bars, in the streets, on the fountains, pretty much everywhere, there’s obviously a thriving community. Mostly in say, I don’t think anything in general chats has much merit to it whatsoever.
Give it a shot and elbow your way in there. I have already, and it’s been great fun.
Did I not just say I tried that? An hour or so later and the chatbox still only has one message in it: my own.
You can’t elbow your way into a conversation somewhere if there isn’t one to begin with.
I’ll second that OP. Best MMO community ever.

What server are you on and what times do you usually play (in UTC)?
It sounds like you’re on a server that has a peak time that’s very different from the times you play. Maybe some folks here could recommend a server for you that matches your play times better so you can switch over before the free transfers end.

I guess I find it exceptionally hard to believe there isn’t a single conversation in /say or general chat when there’s a nonstop chat stream in both for me, even walking around in random areas.
Might want to switch servers in that case, I haven’t had that experience since level 1.
I think the ability to join multiple guild probably hurts map chat. I do it too…if I’m in guild, I have Guild Chat up & map Chat off.

I’m right now on Henge of Dervani because a guild I joined was based there. Had to log in at 4 AM EST (my time zone) to get in because it was a full server.
I haven’t seen a single person from that guild in it yet. Have yet to see a single human player anywhere except camped near dungeons.
This game feels as barren and empty as STALKER.

My impression of HoD is that it primarily attracts WvW folks. If folks from your guild are never on when you’re on, maybe it’s time to look for another guild?
I’m in US/Central and I’ve found Yak’s bend to be a pretty middle of the road server – maybe leaning a bit more toward PvE. Folks are usually around to help out with champs, lots of folks looking for dungeon runs, and there are a number of large guilds around of varying play styles.
One thing that made me happy to be on Yak’s was the way we handled a jerk that exploited to steal an orb in WvW. Not happy we have exploiters, but I doubt any server is free from them.
