Guild Wars 2

Been watching this game for a while, just downloading the patch now and excited to get started.

Did a quick search but didn’t really get the answer I was looking for. I’m still deciding on what class to play, basically I want to focus on using guns, rifles in particular. Obviously that would mean an Engineer or Warrior but neither seem to be particularly focused on using rifles as their main source of damage from what I’ve read. Engineers seem to use lots of different ‘kits’ and obviously Warriors tend to be more melee focused classes. So which would you guys recommend for someone wanting to focus on using guns?

I’ve also been looking at a Thief using either Pistol/Sword or Pistol/Pistol. Suggestions?

Engy rifles play more like shotguns, and the kits are optional, you can be a turret engy who always uses your rifle. Its the same with necros, you dont HAVE to have an army of pets.

Warriors have some great rifle skills, and i can see a condition damage rifle warrior as powerful.

Warriors can trait their rifle abilities to pierce enemies, if that appeals to you.
Pistol/pistol theif gives me the biggest gunslinger vibe, and offers to fairly decent single target ranged damage with a smoke combo field to help you survive.

Thief IMO is a good pick if you want to use guns, use pistol/pistol and pistol/dagger weapon combos (you can switch between them).

If you really want to use rifles warrior and Engi both can kind of work (but as you stated you not gonna be that brill at it).

Your best bet would be trying them all out when you log in to the game. Take each one too the hearts of the mists, play around with weapons and traits against the practice golems. Engineer’s can produce quite a lot of damage with pistols as well, with pistols being able to do some AoE damage to some extent, where theif’s and warriors firearms tend to deal with one target.

Yeah, I figured I’d have to play around a bit to get a real feel for it.
