Guild Wars 2

I originally started on a European server back in beta due to most of my friends being there. But since then they’ve all quit the game, so I’m thinking of transferring to NA to reduce the massive ping I get on the European servers.

Since I’m transferring anyway, I figured that I’d ask those more knowledgeable about the game which servers on NA would be the best to transfer to.

1. Beastgate, good mix of everything.

2. Jade Quarry, if your an elitist WvW player and like long que times.

3. Tarnished Coast, if your an emo hipster and wear glasses when you dont have a prescription for them.

I can’t speak to other servers, I’ve been Tarnished Coast since thousands of RPers voted it as the unofficial RP server in Beta. TC has a lot of camaraderie, a strong WvW presence, and plenty of people playing at any hour I’m ever on (US east coast afternoon to midnight as a rule). Is it the best? I don’t know. I’m certainly happy being on it.

Unless you plan to play wvw, there’s no need for you to worry about which server you choose, since there’s the whole megaserver thing. Now, if you DO want to do wvw, it’s just really up to you and what you want from wvw. Personally, I’d avoid the megablob wvw servers (the Tier 1 servers) due to the long queue times and blobness. I’d instead opt for a top ranking server in a lower tier.

I am going to assume you are just referring to the WvW aspect, as I’m sure you know all about mega servers.

In my experience, Stormbluff Isle has some great people and guilds. Although they are in a lower tier, it was still really fun running with them. But it is more casual.

Also Dragoband. Not top tier but also some good folks and great guilds and some amazing commanders.

When choosing a new server don’t just look at the tier and numbers, but also try to look at the server culture. You’ll be spending your time with that folks and if you don’t like them it’ll just make the experience that much worse. Good luck!
