I just got a WupWup weapon chest drop. I use Celestial armor and trinkets on my elementalist sometimes but I haven’t been using Celestial on most of the other professions. I’m thinking of choosing staff for my elementalist, but would that be useful for my guardian as well? I mostly play elementalist, guardian, ranger or engineer and there’s no shared weapon across all 4. I mostly play open world pve, with occasional ventures into EotM.

Since this is my first ascended weapon, I want to be able to use it on as many characters as possible. If you had to pick a Celestial weapon, which one would you pick?

If I had to pick I’d go with staff for Ele.

I would say staff also, if I had to pick.

Thanks for the verification. I’ll admit Celestial isn’t my first choice for weapon stats either, but it dropped for me so why not?

I would choose a Scepter. It’s more versatile for both Ele and Guard. Guardian staff is bad and Ele shouldn’t be Celestial for staff. A Focus could also be a good choice for either b/c it is also useful. Celestial staff is not something I would ever consider though, tbh.

Yeah, I’d go with sceptre too. But it also depends on what weapon(s) you like playing – don’t pick something you don’t like or don’t use much.

I use a celestial staff build on one of my Eles. It’s certainly not the most effective build, but I find that it offers great damage and support and is thus useful in solo and group scenarios. If you like playing staff ele, go for it. The build that I have found works well with it is easy to play, fun and adaptable- min/maxers won’t like it, nor will elitists because it simply doesn’t make the most of the damage and might an ele has to offer.

If it doesn’t suit your build, choose it for the skin only and put that skin on the weapon that you will really use. You can sell it for a gold to a vendor or put it aside for later.

I generally prefer a staff for my ele, mostly because it’s the weapon I’m most familiar with. I’m slowly trying to fix that but haven’t really made it yet. I find scepter more useful for my guardian but I think I prefer the ascended staff skin.

Bah. I guess it’ll sit in my bank until I make up my mind or just finally go, “kitten it” and pick something.

Staff. It’s the most expensive weapon to make (out of scepter/staff) and it’s very useful on both guardian and ele. I can’t remember the last time I needed to use a scepter in PvE for guardian (or wvw).

The only other profession besides Ele that even remotely makes sense for Celestial is Engineer. Still even with a Celestial armor set for my Engi, I stick with Zerker weapons…..(maybe an Engi Celestial Shield?)

Absolutely think either Staff or Scepter (if you run an Ele) is the best choice, however.
