I know it’s not been announced, but do those who follow ANET fairly closely have an estimate as to when it will go on sale?

seriously though, best guesses put in sometime in August, as thats the 3rd year aniversary of GW2. Other than that, it’s all just guesses and speculations.

This would be my guess as well, since Gamescom is in August. It’s not unlikely that they will either announce a release date there or that they already want to show a finished product.

I would say next January, because anet isn’t smart enough to use the Christmas rush.

Since this expansion is much smaller than the game in everything, number of professions, skills, maps, etc, than the game wouldn’t that indicate that it could come out sooner?

I would agree that the lead time that ANet needs between having a successful beta and announcing a release date could be a lot less. However, two important concepts probably make the size of the release moot:

• Good marketing (aka HoT hype) will dictate giving substantial time between announcement of pre-orders and the eventual release date.
• Despite the significantly smaller size, there’s still a ton of testing involved — at least, we hope there’s a lot of testing involved. Remember how many bugs got introduced with the preparatory update a month or so ago? I doubt very much that they can speed up QA all that much without risking the type of bug that will get people talking about bugs instead of the new features.

tl;dr I still expect 3-4 months after pre-sales begin before an actual release and I don’t expect pre-sales to begin until after a “successful” BETA event or three.

I’m hoping for GW2 3rd year anniversary release (Aug 28th). Gives them time to run a few more Beta and Public tests over the summer (but I may just be wishing to hard).

I am hoping for August, but I’m expecting more along the lines of October.

On a more serious note, here’s my HoT date guess:
July first.

Why?

Since they started doing specialization reveal one per week, this takes us at the end of June.
Then maybe they will release right after, or so that’s what I’m hoping for.

There is also gw2 birthday coming up which is a likely date.

In any case, from my experience, it will be ready when it’s ready!

6×6×6 is 216.
2+1+6=9.
9-6(gods/dragons/specializations we don’t know about) = 3.
12(months)-5(May)=7.
7+3=10.
HoT is released in October.
