Hi all. I have difficulty using my keybinds effectively even though they’re all around my WASD keys. So I’m looking to get a gaming mouse with some thumb buttons. However I’m not sure which one I should get. I hear the Naga is pretty good, but I’ve heard that its software is buggy or sometimes isn’t compatible with some games.

What other multiple button mice are good? I’m looking for the kind like the Naga that have the ~12 buttons on the side, or something similar. My price point is around $100 USD. Thanks!

I’d suggest you try moving WASD to ESDF instead, and see if that helps.

Beyond that, I’d personally suggest not the G600, which was way too tall for even my giant hands. I’d also suggest that 12 buttons is, probably, more than you need, and either the Razor Hex, or something with a few less buttons is good.

Thing is I’ll be using it for multiple games, not just GW2. Also, I’ve tried ESDF before for a few days, but I just couldn’t get used to it. Thanks, though!

I’ve been using a Nostromo n52 for over 10 years and think it’s awesome. Razer offers something similar, as well as Logitech.

Edit: I guess I should note that I use a Logitech G300 cuz I’ve never liked buttons on the side. I only use the two extra buttons on the left, for jump and reverse. The rest of the controls are on the n52.

I never had problem with the razer software and I could always make profile for everything. I got profile for software like Blender and photoshop and for every games I play. Macros are easy to make and manage and I never had problem with those either. You can also configure every buttons except left click.

I think the buggy part and incompatibility people mention from it come from the game statistic stuff. It’s an optional part of the software that tracks button press and mouse movement. It’s completely useless to me so I never enabled it.

Next mouse I’m looking at for when this one dies is Corsair Scimitar. Because the side button panel can move. On the Naga the side panel is placed in a way that I have trouble reaching the 1 2 3 buttons because of the way I hold it.

FWIW, I liked the Logitech G602 fairly well, but replaced it with the G900 when the main buttons on it started to die. The smaller number of side buttons didn’t turn out to be a thing, since I rarely used them — they were awkward to hit reliably while retaining position control of the mouse.

I have had zero problems with the software. It does everything you would want, supports per-game profiles and stuff. Also macros, in places where they are permitted, such as being able to have an auto-repeat left click button.

Stay away from Razer, whatever you do. I’ve got a G502, which is great. Really just get a mouse from Logitech that fits what you want.

Being a user of the Epic Chroma myself, I can say that it’s a kitten good mouse for playing and MMO such as GW2. While I do love the feel for it myself, I do believe there are far superior MMO mice out there from Logitech.

Some conflicting opinions here…

Fermi says stay away from Razer, but Malkavian (love the reference! I’m a huge VTM fan!) and Haishao says it’s pretty good. I’ve also never heard of the Perdition @No One. Also, Nostromo n52…it looks promising, I suppose. I’ll have to gather some data before I decide, though.

The shape and feel of Razer’s mice are fine, but they’re well known for having poor quality products, especially given the fact that they ask premium prices. The last decent line of stuff they had was the 2013 product line, after that it went hugely downhill. For the mice, double clicking problems are a big one to watch out for. They crop up after ~6 months for loads of people

I use a mouse by Sharkk – this one if you can find any place that has it - custom weights, finger rests, trigger button, DPI control, and 12 side keys. I paid about $46 for it.

I am extremely happy with it so if any of their other gaming mouse models are as good as mine, then that might be a good avenue to check out.

I love the Logitech G600. You can get it for about $40 on Amazon. It has 12 thumb buttons + a G-shift (works like a shift key so you can bind 12 MORE keys if you really need to). All of my weapon skills, F1-F4, weapon swap are on the mouse and it really has improved my play. You can set a couple of profiles for different games using the software.

I don’t have any issues with the size of the mouse, and I’m a female with probably average sized hands. Would definitely recommend the black one, I made a mistake buying it in white >.>

I think the G600 looks to be the one for me. I’ve been looking up Razer mice and most of them have mentioned the problems Fermi points out. And the G600 is reasonably priced, too. Also, @Maethor, I can’t find any locations near me that carry it, nor any retailers that can get it to me without high shipping prices. It looks nice, though!

I’m personally using the Utechsmart venus mouse. 12 buttons, 16400 DPI, standalone application to fully customize it. Great feel and size for your hand (if you have hands on the normal-bigger size) Responsive.

And a very stupid thing I never knew I needed in my life, a ring finger rest, so the position just feel natural.

Currently on sale at 40$ on amazon. Never looked back.

I’ve always preferred MMO mice with non-grid buttons… my current one is a old Corsair M90. I personally feel it ends up more intuitive once you get past the learning curve. Others that fit the bill are Razer Naga Hex, SteelSeries Rival 500, Roccat Nyth and Asus ROG Spatha. Last last couple are probably out of your budget.

On a negative note… Corsair’s included software is horrible… I run my mouse with hardware profiles because the software mode is buggy and hasn’t been updated for years (I still need the software to program hardware mode). As a comparison, Razer synapse (for my Orbweaver) hasn’t given me any major issues, is more intuitive and has more features.

I’ve used both the Razer Naga and Nostromo in the past, and both kicked the bucket shortly after their warranties expired – suspiciously shortly, almost as if programmed that way. Conspiracy or not, two times was enough for me; no more Razer products. I now have a Logitech mouse with 12 side buttons and it is a workhorse. I’m very happy with it.

Personally, I’m currently using the Razer Naga Hex (going to upgrade to V2 soon) and Razer Orbweaver (Chroma). No problems here, love the mouse and the only reason I’m upgrading it is because V2 comes with 7 buttons instead of 6 and I’ve had the Hex for a couple of years now and the 1 button is beginning to wear down on me (because I’ve used it heavily since I’ve had the mouse). As for the Orbweaver, I literally can’t play without it. Trying to play with the keyboard after using the Orbweaver for so long both hurts my hands and is far more cumbersome for me.

This. I love my G600. Mainly because of the extra right click button which I bound my swap weapon to. I am female with tiny hands and it works for me.
