How can i get exotics armor ? I just got lvl 80 and i don’t have enough gold to buy. So is there a way to get them ?

Run dungeons for tokens. (vendors are in Lion’s Arch)
Karma vendors in Orr (at corrupted god temples)
Crafting.
Random drops from mobs and chests.

Well you got a couple of options 1. crafting it yourself but with prices on mats going through the roof that option is not that great. 2. karma after each temple is cleared in ore a karma vendor appears which sell exotic armor at 42k a piece. 3. my fav choice and pretty easy as you can already start working on it at lvl35 and that is dungeons. You get 60tokens per path in a dungeon and that can be used for buying armor and weapons also you make a fair bit of cash and karma so its a win win situation.

There are various karma vendors in Orr that sell complete sets of level 80 exotic armor (complete with superior runes). They’re generally unlocked by difficult event chains though. There’s one at the Temple of Balthazar, and another at the Temple of Lyssa. I haven’t finished Orr, but I expect the other temples have one too.

Where are the ‘’token vendors’’ ? The only vendors I found that accept tokens are only selling rares lvl 45 armor.

The dungeon token vendors are in Fort Marriner. They have different items under different tabs.

Farming events in Orr seems to be most popular. Just do them over and over until you get enough gold from the loot you’ve picked up and sold to buy exotics. There are events all over Orr, some of them have Chests on completion.

Chests (the really big ones!) are known for having a chance to get exotics. There are chests at the death of Dragons, end of certain map events, inside dungeons, and in World vs World jumping puzzles. You’ll also have a chance of getting a legendary pre-cursor weapon (exotic) which sells for a butt load of gold.

Then, there are champions, which can drop exotics (I’ve been told this, but I have not experienced this at all). From what I’ve heard from other players, champions received an increase in chance to drop items and this was a patch update from a couple of weeks ago. I don’t know if that is true, but it is definitely something to take note on. You’ll want to read this thread for more information on that. Normal mobs have a chance of dropping exotics. There are a few people who have received legendary pre-cursors like Dusk after killing normal level monsters.

Crafting can get you exotics. It’s not free, they require an interesting amount of ingredients.

You can get exotics from WvW badges. As well as exchanging dungeon tokens in Lion’s Arch.

You can get exotics with Karma in the level 80 areas in Orr. Look for the little blue house icons on the map. when those events are completed you get a chest and a Karma NPC that exchanges karma for exotics.

You can get exotics by combining four level 76 or higher RARE items into the mystic forge. If you combine 4 of the same weapon (i.e rare daggers) you can get a rare/exotic dagger as the reward. Mix armor and weapons causes the result to be random.

When you get Rares, consider if it is worth it to sell on the Trading Post or Salvage them. Type “/wiki Glob of Ectoplasm” into the game chat window and you’ll read more about items that sell for 30g or higher. Rares can yield 0 to 3 Globs of Ectoplasm while exotics yield 0 to 5. You can get Ectoplasm from level 68 or higher rares/exotics.

Try to do Fractal dungeons. You’ll have an chance of getting AWESOME loot as you progress to higher levels of the dungeon. That’s where Ascension equipment comes into play. Now, something I don’t know if it is true or not, I heard you can get legendary pre-cursors from killing people in WvW, too. I suspect it is true.

Also alot of backslot items are dropping in dungeons as of late. So if your set with your amor and need a back slot item just got the exotic ghost eater’s skin on my lvl60 necro last night from AC

Crafting doesn’t have to mean you crafting the item yourself. Look up the materials required for the items you want and then talk to crafters in your guild and see if they’ll craft if you supply the materials…

1) Harvest, harvest, harvest… everything.
2) Break down high level rares using black lion kits (from chests, zone completions) to get ectos for crafting.
3) Kill creatures that drop the parts required for the type of stats you want on the item.

Someone I know who just got to 80 for the first time went and got a full exotic armor set (the Lyssa temple one). With that and some dungeon weapons, the only thing to craft or buy was jewelry.

If you’ve done the daily achieves and a couple monthlies, you’ll have surplus karma.

Note that if money is tight, there’s not actually much difference between rare (yellow) and exotic. In fact, you’ll likely find each upgrade underwhelming, cuz it’ll still take about the same number of attacks to kill the mobs.

Don’t worry about wearing only rares for a while until you have enough Karma or gold or luck to get exotics, just don’t make it a permanent thing. Upgrading is great, but a temporary solution might be needed.

It’s of course impossible to tell the future, but if you’d obtained a full set of rare gear a few weeks ago, it would have nearly tripled in value when you salvage it today.

(my point being that rare gear sells for just about equal to its salvage value)

you guys left out the most important or should i say the easiest! way to get rares and exotics. complete all the lands from level 40 and more. you get rares from level 40-50 lands and exotics from 70-80 lands. and you can make a lot of money with that. you usually get 2 rare/exotic types, 1 random gem store consumable, 40x craft mats, and a cash prize for completing a land.

and it doesn’t take that long to do it

Right, but it’s unlikely to be gear you want to wear at 80, ime. But builds wealth, both the reward and in the doing the top 4 maps complete.

Assume you have zero gold to start with.

1) Go to Cursed Shore.
2) Farm events inside a tunnel (lots of risens and spiders, forgot the name of that place) for 20 hours.
3) Buy full set of exotic armor / weapon / jewels from TP.

i can’t disagree with that ^^ but it does build wealth, and wealth is key component for buying them exotics i’m currently on Berserker’s emblazoned gear, and i have to say, if i hadn’t had a friend that crafts those, i would still wear yellows.

1) buy yourself an exotic weapon with the money you have. That’ll make you competitive.
2) run dungeons. Doing all three dungeon paths for Ascalonian Catacombs gives you 180 tokens for about 2 hours of time. Head/Hands/Shoulders/Boots each cost only 180 tokens so you can get a piece of good gear every day. Use gw2lfg.com
3) join a guild and buy the back slot from the armorer. Costs gold but at least you’ll have a best in slot.

Prices for lvl80 rares have gone up quite a lot recently, due to the value of ectoplasms. Don’t expect a full set for less than a gold, it’s actually close to 2G at the moment. But yeah, a full rare set isn’t that much less viable than a full exotic set. Exotics are overrated.

Everyone could have about 2g when reaching lvl80. Otherwise, just craft. Yellows don’t need much materials and if you’ve been gathering you can have some guildie make a set of random gear.

42,000 karma will buy you exotic armor that has stats as good as any other exotic armor. I had over 400,000 karma when I learned this.

The other approaches cited by Karizee work just fine, but I think that buying from a vendor is the easiest.

The only trick is that these karma vendors are not available unless if a group event has recently succeeded in beating the temple boss.

Also — I’m earning gold hand-over-fist by participating in the temple events on the Cursed Shore. This is a welcome change.

Karma armor is great, but be careful because there may not be a set of karma armor with the stats you want.

I found this out the hard way.

After I bought nearly a full set, I realized that the best stats for my class/build was Berserker (Power/Precision/Crit Damage), which was not available on any karma armor.
