Best way to power level?
Short answer: There is no powerleveling.
Longer answer is that (although you don’t want to hear it) you should really play the game. A good amount of people run out of things to do when they hit level 80 cause they where too much focused on that number. The game doesn’t change at level 80 and you won’t be doing different things all of a sudden. In this game it is really just a number.
Secondly, the game is free of monthly fees, so feel free to quit and come back whenever you want. I have seen in GW1 that there where always a good amount of people leveling characters and working them throught the game, even after 7 years.
Thridly, after hearing my speeches, the best way to level is to do the regular things, but always make sure you are doing thing intended for higher level character (the trick is to find a good balance, it depends on your play style, your armor level and the amount of control you have over your character, how much further ahead you can go, off course teaming up with other players make a lot of difference (the other day I helped a level 48 character do the personal story retribution wich is ment for level 59, off course the main difference was that we had two level 58’s in the party and a level 76 and a level 80…

Honestly, doing a mix of everything will get you to 80 reasonably fast. Everything being anything associated with map completion, dynamic events, personal story quests, crafting, and reviving any other players. Also, going to parts of the map that are less explored can help with experience gain, since enemies provide more bonus experience the longer they’ve existed in-game (I’ve gotten up to 1000 extra exp from these mobs, though that was in a 70+ zone). I’ve read that some players have been able to grind out to L80 through specific things, such as crafting, though I think ANet has fixed the scaling of that type of grinding to prevent it from being possible anymore.

Get to level 35.
Go to Harathi Hinterlands. Find out where “Kol” spawns, and go there. Kill him with a large group of people from the map.
Kol himself is an event. The event nets you over 2500 exp. It then starts another event, loaded with mobs to kill, and another 2500+ exp. Then a third event starts, involving 3 mini-bosses. Another 2500+ exp. The people playing these events will then run to the location of a big world event that happens pretty regularly (and probably would be happening when these events finished). There’s a Splendid Chest here that you can access without doing any events- it merely spawns here, not after an event is complete (although it does reset throughout the day, so it’s probably meant to be a reward for helping…). If this event is taking place, it’ll be another 2500+ exp, not including exp for killing the enemies.
These event chains (Starting with Kol) start over about 15 minutes after they end (By the time the 2 events following Kol are done, Kol will restart about 15 minutes later).
I went from level 35 to 46 in two days by doing this over and over. Best part: It’s actually a lot of fun.
A mix of everything is important. I sometimes can sit down and get 3-4 levels just from crafting with the mats I saved from doing heart quests. Then I’ll do a couple personal story quests and get half to a whole level from just those 2, sometimes Ill hop in WvW with the zerg and get 3-4 levels in a couple hours there. Try to work on the daily and monthly achievements too as they give exp. If you are close to finishing a map, finishing it 100% gives another exp reward.
Also, thank you Licht for explaing why I sometimes get those random 1000 exp rewards. I thought it was because it was the first time I killed that kind of monster before. I was in a remote area however, and was racking up a lot of exp very quickly (I had the guild exp boost too, so it was impressive.)
Ohh, ya look for guild exp banners in Lions Arch, some kind guilds put them up near the portals or fountain sometimes
If supplies (or gold) aren’t an issue, crafting is the fastest way.
Thanks for the reply guys.
Yeah so far I always get my dailies done, got 3 maps at 100% and about to complete 4th one. Personal story is at lvl 36, although manageable at lvl 32, I’ll wait until I lvl up a bit before I pick it up again (I truly enjoy the story quest! I’ts amazing, makes me want to lvl to 80 first and then do it all in one go, as I get disappointed when I have to wait to lvl up to continue the story, I really like it).
@Licth
Thanks for the tip about the +Bonus exp from killing mobs. I’ve seen those a lot but didn’t really understand how it worked or why it stopped working lol. I tried relogging once to see if it would reset hehe. I have a 1-hour exp booster that I got from somewhere (dunno where lol) so I’ll use that when I find a sweet area. I rather enjoy slaying mobs in masses actually, it’s the most rewarding activity; fun, money, items, familiarity with the class, all in one.
@WeLove Kanjimari
Thank you! I’m definitely gonna give this a try and see how it goes! Sounds like something I was looking for.
Crafting is out of question tho, I’m fairly broke hehe.
